Romo and Prescott current career record

^ This. I know it has been a dozen years, but there were virtually no 'beloved' threads and posts made on behalf of Tony Romo following that particular Dallas/Denver game. At least, there were practically none made on this site. Perhaps some members are remembering comments made elsewhere and are projecting their recollections here..?
The Romo haters screamed about the pick but were silent about a D that was unable to force a single punt.
Romo pushed too hard because he knew they needed a bigger lead to hope to win. and when you push too hard bad things happen

It is funny everything points to them being the same guy saddled with the same horrible FO yet many here will choose one over the other, not on facts or stats or anything other than they liked one not the other.. there is nothing that shows one was better nothing..everything shows they are both good QB's with maybe the worst GM in league history..

The January reality is once again a problem that the Dallas Cowboys TEAM has. Yes... Dak was part of the problem of that January Reality.

But again.... you still haven't answered my question. We know all know and have established that Dak isn't elite and he has fell short at important times.... I honestly don't have any problem with that point, however....

My problem is, people act like this is boxing or golf. The Cowboys led the NFL in penalties 3 or 4 of the years Dak has played in Dallas. Guess how many of those penalties he committed? Zero.

Let me say this again.... Dak was part of the January problem. Remember the first playoff game against the 49ers? In that game, we had 14, 15 penalties.

How many quarterbacks can help their team win playoff games with that many penalties VS a number one ranked 49ers defense? I have NEVER heard of any NFL quarterback leading their team in a playoff victory over a number one ranked defense, after said quarterback's team committed 15 penalties.

So if no other quarterbacks can overcome league leading penalties for 3 or 4 years.... why is our quarterback expected to?

Again... there were times when the team played good enough to win but Dak didn't close the deal.

With all of this said, Dak isn't elite but he's a very good quarterback. So if he's a bum and below average as a few here stated... im still trying to figure out how a below average bum can do what he has been able to do at times.

They still can't explain that.
Penalties matter, but let’s not pretend they’re unique to Dallas. Every team deals with flags. The difference is that elite QBs overcome them — they elevate their team when it matters most. Brady, Mahomes, Rodgers, even Eli in his playoff runs — they all dealt with penalties and tough defenses, yet still found ways to win big games.

Dak has had plenty of chances in January, and the story has been the same: great regular-season stats, then struggles when defenses tighten and the margin for error shrinks. Nobody’s saying penalties don’t hurt, but hanging his playoff failures solely on flags ignores the obvious — when the moment is biggest, Dak hasn’t delivered.

That’s why people call him out. Because numbers in October don’t erase realities in January.

Just like I’ve said in other threads. I think Romo had the superior release and overall better arm talent but forced things too much at times. Dak is more respected and a better leader.

Once again... I NEVER SAID the playoff problems for Dak were solely because of flags.

You mentioned how these other quarterbacks dealt with penalties in playoff runs, but that wasn't my question.

1. What quarterback in NFL history led their team to a playoff victory vs a NUMBER ONE defense, after said quarterback's team committed 15 penalties. I want a name or names since you claim other quarterbacks have done it. I would gladly shut my mouth on that question alone and admit I was wrong. I'll patiently wait for those quarterbacks names.

With that said, according to your measurements of what a successful quarterback is supposed to be based on playoff success and Superbowl appearances and victories..... if you consider Aaron Rodgers elite, then you have to say Foles and Dilfer are elite as well because they all have the same amount of Superbowl success. One ring apiece.

Kaepernick as of right now has proven that he was a better quarterback than Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen. Kaepernick led his team to a Superbowl. Jackson and Josh Allen hasn't yet. So according to how you judge quarterbacks, Kaepernick, Dilfer and Foles were elite quarterbacks if we call Josh Allen, A. Rodgers and Lamar Jackson elite.

I have no problem with how you judge a quarterback. But keep that same energy for every quarterback whose judged by important wins. You can't move the goal post around for other quarterbacks.

Same bs excuses people gave Matthew Stafford for years. Its a team game when Matt Stafford is 17-74 vs winning teams..... but then other quarterbacks are judge by wins and losses as if they're playing golf by themselves.

Same excuses go for other quarterbacks who currently have max contracts and I believe one or two current max contract quarterbacks haven't even won a playoff game yet. But again, I have no problem with our quarterbacks being responsible for team playoff records. Just make sure you keep that same energy for ALL quarterbacks who haven't reached or won Superbowls.

Nothing to do with the stacked rosters and all the hall of famers and good defenses.
So what you are admitting is that neither Dak or Romo could get the job done without having stacked rosters, hall of famers, and good defenses.

..Tony got smart to late, unfortunately.

Was also product of bad luck. He said so, himself.

Had at least three good teams in his career.

Could not get the breaks. Calls, catches, plays, turnovers ..etc. When it counted.
An ill-timed trip to Cabo didn't help matters

People hated Romo for choking late in the game. Fact is ...he had VERY good 4th quarter and game winning stats.

When he DID..."choke" late...we would have NEVER been in that position to begin with without his efforts.

If every cowboy had the same heart and drive as romo..we'd have a dozen lombardis.

I cannot for the life of me figure the hate and fake choker accusation...from a guy that WALKED ON...to the Dallas Cowboys...as an NFL QB...and became one of the best of his time in a really good group of QBs...several HoFers.

He was serious overachiever...but a holes have to hate something.

Romo would get the team in bad situations and miraculously get them back in the game.

Better than not doing anything for almost a half of football then roaring back to tie the game in overtime.

Can never convince me otherwise that Romo was a more entertaining QB

Um...that wasn't just Romo that got them in bad places. Murray Fumbles, dez can't catch. Crayton can;t catch a gimme TD for the win?

I suppose you think it was Romo that lost to Manning's Broncos.

Nope.

Aikman, Staubach, & Morton all lead Dallas to the SB.

Meredith and White got us to multiple championship games.

That's your top 5.

Results matter far more than stats do especially since the rules have changed so much over the decades.

Dak still has a chance to crack the top 5, but it's too late for Romo.
The only thing Morton led us to was Staubach.

Morton was drafted by the Cowboys because he had a cannon arm. He was one of the few in the league that could throw the ball far enough to where Bob Hayes didn't have to go back to catch the ball.

However, his short and midrange passing was a nightmare.

For his career, he completed 54.2% of his passes, threw 183 TDs to 187 INTs.

When he started in the Super Bowl for the Denver Broncos, his passer rating was a perfect 0.0.

Morton didn't just throw INTs at the worse time possible, so many of them were returned for TDs.

Craig Morton's greatest achievement for the Cowboys was getting traded to the Giants for the draft pick that gave them HOFer Randy White.

The five best quarterbacks that ever played for the Cowboys was Staubach, Aikman, Danny White, Don Meredith and Bernie Kosar.

How did it hurt?

because you didn't like it?
If I liked it I wouldn't have brought it up. It was a dumb move on Romo and Witten's part. Witten even admitted as much some time later, but Romo never owned up to anything.

No QB can get the task done without the rest of the team.

That's the point, it's a team game, not a QB game.

The entire team matters. Wins/Losses/SBs are all team stats. Anyone who places it on one position should be ignored about anything they say regarding the sport.

If the rest of the team sucks, they're not going to win much of anything, even if the QB is the bestest ever.
