Dak Critics haven't been proven wrong

Most people will argue to there blue in the face before changing opinions. I've come to the realization that Dak is not the QB to take us to the superbowl or win it. We should have been drafting his successor for years now and should have never been resigned with that ridiculous contract.

Now in 2016 I believe that Romo should have got his job back as that was probably our best chance at a superbowl imo, however Dak had a phenomenal rookie season building off the success of Zeke.

Always said early on in his career that he was the product of the talent around him and showed improvement each year. Also said we could win a superbowl with him if we built a proper team(both sides of the ball) around him as long as he drove the bust straight.

However, giving him a ridiculous contract the first go around coming off a major injury was moronic. We have now seen what he truly is and hes not that guy. Good/great regular season player but is atrocious in the post season.

It's not entirely his fault however he's been given top tier OLs, premier running game, elite WR's, above average TE's and etc. Sometimes multiple of these in the same year.

He's having a good year so far but mvp'ish? Hardly. Maybe looking at face value stats. 2nd in passing yards, 6th in comp%, tied for 13th with three other qbs for passer rating but 3rd in adjusted QBR rating. The offense has also put up two games with no points in the second half.

Has Dak greatly improved? Yes
Is Dak the product of the talent Jerry has provided him on offense? IMO yes
Good regular season QB? Yes
Good postseason QB? No

He just doesnt have the "IT" factor when it matters.

You’re not watching the games. He’s been balling out all year keeping the games within reach. Ahead, from behind, it doesn’t matter he keeps on playing. You also apparently are unaware that you need more than just a passing game in the NFL to succeed. You need to be able to run the ball and stop the run. They Cowboys have been able to run the ball this year which is why the offense has been so successful.

Strangely, he also seems to carry the can for when the team plays badly, including the defense, some fans just like to make him the whipping boy for everything I guess.

This very thread and similar are like Andy Griffith reruns.......We all know Dak could save Grandma and disabled children from a burning vehicle, salvage Grandma's walker, save a fireman while at it, move a law enforcement officer from a runaway car, get the runaway horse off the highway, disarm the bank robber.................and that still wouldn't be enough or he'd get criticized for 2nd degree burns acquired and a bump on the head from the bank robber while doing so. We know the fate just like we know when Andy saves Barney out of mess. Be careful......quit listening to the likes of Skip, SAS, or a Shady McCoy, etc. Let the games and season play out. I'm with America's Cowboy on this one.

I'm not ignoring your main point it's just wrong. Packers were a top 5 defense. You are revising history now because Dak destroyed them. But no one destroyed them like he did. And now you're using their rankings after Dak faced them to prove oh they weren't great they were just "good". Even though the complaint always was Dak can't play well against good defenses. Now you're pushing the goal post.

Baltimore signing Rush as a back up made no sense in my eyes, they run a mobile QB system with a lot of vertical passes both things are not Rush's strength.

I also did not want to sign Dak in his last 2 contracts. Non-the less if we have NFC championship or even super bowl success, then I will be looking for crow recipes and be very happy doing it. Assuming he doesn't get injured and another QB

Things I have noticed about Dak this year.

Positives

Dak seems to have more pocket awareness this year than in the past ......... he seems to feel the pressure better this year and have not seen him look blindsided.

He seems to have better touch on his long balls this year ........ that pass to Pickens in the endzone was an absolute perfectly placed ball.

His running has been a lot better this year.

He has been throwing the football away more this year instead of taking horrible sacks. This is a VERY IMPORTANT IMPROVEMENT.

Negatives

He is still throwing 2 - 3 yard dump offs when we need 7 yards to get a first down.

He is still taking to long going through his progressions and missing wide open guys running down the field.

His audible calls still need work.


Overall

Dak has been playing very well overall this season and has seemed to improve his game in many facets.

I only hope his leg holds up and I was wrong about the severity of his injury.

He has to play well in the playoffs to change the narrative of his career.

Dak has always looked good against below average teams. He has played well so far, I give him that. But we’ll see come around playoffs (if we make it) is where the test lies.

People here seem to get too hyped after wins against bad teams then we get stomped the week after by a playoff contender.

Having said all that, this year he isn't proving critics wrong, he's just seems to have elevated his play and worked on overcoming those legitimate criticisms. He is playing at an Elite level and seems to have reached a point similar to Romo where in 2014 things finally began to click and he reached a level where he figured out the game at a high level.
I hope Dak continues on this progression and shows that he has overcome any deficiencies he displayed previously and shows that he has reached Elite status.

He was playing at an elite level two years ago and was in the MVP conversation. However, how the team does in the playoffs will ultimately determine how he is viewed. If we don't make the playoffs because of this defense or fail in the playoffs because of this defense, some will heap all the blame on Prescott since QBs are the only players judged by team record.

For what it's worth, if we get to the playoffs, he's got to play better than he did the last time against Green Bay and in the two losses to San Francisco. I have trouble blaming him for the other Green Bay loss, though, just like I have trouble blaming Romo for our playoff loss to the Packers and some other playoff losses when he was our QB.

It might seem that I and other Dak critics need to eat Crow given how well Dak is playing now, but all of the criticisms/doubts we had were legitimate.
He hadn't shown that he was a "Force Multiplier" type QB where he would elevate his team despite being short handed. He did struggle in many big game situations and came up small. He did talk a good game but didn't always back it up on the field in crucial games. Him demanding to be the highest paid QB in the NFL when he hadn't proven that he was deserving of $60 Million a year.

That could be said if the season ended on a positive note. The season is still young and its not a guarantee that dak keeps this up. Then you have how he will perform in the playoffs if an opportunity happens. We know his track record there, and we know he mostly does well in the regular season. With that said, I wouldn't say critics have been proven wrong.
