Prescott had a very shaky 4th QTR

Against the Eagles, Packers, and Panthers Dak had the ball in his hands with a chance to win the game. The highest paid player in history needs to come through more often in the clutch. Bryce freakin' Young lead a 6 minute, game winning drive when it was his turn.

This season is following the usual pattern with Dak - roll up big stats, but when you need THAT DRIVE to win the game he will fail far more often than succeed.

fact of this game. we gave up 216 yards rushing, had 31 rushing yards. probability of winning a game rushing less than 50 yards is 5%. probability of winning when you rush for 200 yards is 88%. when both happen probability of cowboys winning was 0.6%.

Dak had the ball in his hands late in the 4th quarter. He lost 12 yards in three plays. Bryce Young then did what Dak is paid more than anyone else to do - drive your team down to put the game away with a walk off score.

so simple fans look at the stats and go Dak's fault. but if you watched the game in that series and even the series before, couple of things stood out. one, Carolina rushed with 4 players and dropped 7 into coverage. taking away the deep ball. ok, so we should have time to throw, the problem was they got the pass rush even rushing 4, and actually the RDE moved down the line expecting the pass to go to Williams and they bottled him up. their defense played it perfectly, knowing we are not going to run the ball, lets take away the deep ball and you figure with 4, we have more time to throw, but we didn't. we fell right into that trap. the very next play, same thing, this time what I blame dak for is throwing it too close to Williams and Williams caught it and there were 4 players in the area tackling him. Dak should have just thrown it in his direction and into the ground. again, defense played it perfectly. and next play the same thing, except this time swing pass to the other side. rushed with three. dropped LBs and all safties and CBs were deep, taking away the deep ball. Luepke made the catch, carolina knowing we are not going to get all the yards back with a swing pass. All three plays Dak was looking down field, didn't see anything open and pass rush got there and had to throw a swing pass. even if they were incomplete passes, we would not have gotten a first down....results would have been the same.....

the issue was that we had no running threat and carolina figured that out and played perfect defense. knowing Dak needs a strong running game for his passing game to work, we didn't have it. Dak is not mahomes, thus I am not surprised this happened. I am sure you will say but $60M!!!

and Bryce young played against the cowboys defense. this defense at this moment is #2 all time worst defense. let that sink in for a moment. we gave up 216 yards rushing. that last drive they had 37 yards rushing, 25 yards passing. 7 of the 13 plays were runs. it was Rico Dowdle beating the cowboys on the ground. not bryce young beating the cowboys. Rico had himself a day.

but given Dak detractors just want to blame dak, they look at final stats and go hey look at what happened. -12 yards. but how did we get there and why....that has to be addressed, which is running game. now teams will focus on taking our running game away and we are doomed. put mahomes in there and results would have most probably been the same. maybe we don't lose 12 yards and just end up with zero yards. defense would still be acting the same and giving up a score.

QB is not just what ails this team. tell me if you think this is a superbowl contender with Mahomes at the helm?. I know your answer will probably be, we would have a better chance. but would they be a superbowl contender?

damn. folks gonna step up with all sorts of thinly sliced "data" to say Dak sucks.

You need to reflect on your biases.

I have found that therapy helps you better understand the sources of your anger.

Meanwhile Daniel Jones, Baker Mayfield, and Sam Darnold are studs weekly. Careful what you wish for.

This defense is cheeks, and Dak has been playing lights out football with the world against him.

Shotty made some bad calls in the 4th trying to set us up for a field goal likely instead of going for 6. Instead their defense sniffed it out, and we are all left upset. At the end of the day, We're winning in two phases of the game, and are the worst in the league in the 3rd phase. Eventually 1 of those 2 phases will not be perfect, and you'll take a loss. This game is not on Dak.

I'm not sure how Eberflus still has a job. The NFC East is not out of reach. It will be with Jerry at helm.

Rush is a bad QB.. that is the entire point. Even a bad QB can win with this roster. Been saying that for most of the 10 years Dak has been here. We have had some really really great rosters.. and Dak has been a BIG part in why we wasted them.

It has all been said multiple times. Dak wasn't the reason we lost.. but he had a big opportunity to win the game and he fluffed his lines. Wasn't the first time and won't be the last time.

The truly great players FIND a way to win.. so do we really think Mahomes goes -12 from the midfield with a chance to take the lead? What about Brady? Aikman? Rodgers even?

My take is simple.. a truly great QB wins that game against the Panthers. Even with the shaky D, the poor play calling, the WR1 out... a truly great QB takes the ball on the 40 yard line, moves it into FG range, finds a way to bleed a lot of the clock and UNDERSTANDS that his D is crap and therefore the game is on his shoulders.

A previous poster summed up WHY we had to dump in 3 times for 12 yard loss.. the D knew we had no run game and, like they have for 10 years, when the crunch time comes.. they play into cover and beg Dak to 'beat' them. This is why we always feel 'so close'.. NFL defences are smart and they know every weakness a QB has. They don't reveal their hand until it is game on the line stuff.. and Dak folds like a cheap suit time and time again. The oppo D will never show you its key stop plays early in the game.. lest you scheme a way around them.. that is all part of what make this game great. The brinksmanship of tactics.. waiting to the last moment to really dig in.

Our D has got close in two games.. in two games they had a chance to hold a 4th down play and 'win' the game (or keep us in it) and twice they couldn't hold at that crucial moment. There is no doubt the defence is terrible. However.. in this game, the offence had a chance and blew it. At some point we have to stop with the Dak excuses.. take the medicine, move on and build a championship caliber roster. Won't happen until the Jones family is out.
Mayfield lost his top 3 receivers, RB1, and a couple o-line....still found a way to will the team to a win. That 3rd and 14 scramble...holy moly!

But Dak fans cry if we lose our WR1.

*wipes tears from face* but dak went ahead of Troy, can't we high five that? Those stupid wins mean nothing to me.

well, dak gets paid more than Mayfield, that's a good enough victory for me. I hope my stats buddies will post some today to pump me up. gooo dak... love you.....

Never understand why it has to be all the blame on one side and defend the other side at all cost.

Every game has moments that ultimately decide the outcome. Many games come down to the finish at which point all those previous moments no longer matter. There were moments when had the defense made the play, the outcome would have been different. Just one play at the right time would have made the difference. There were moments that had the offense made the play the outcome would have been different. Just one play at the right time. Those things didn't happen though, and it came down to the finish.

The offense had the ball and the game in their hands. They had a great opportunity to bleed clock and score. They Failed when it mattered most.

The defense then had the opportunity to stop the Panthers and get the ball back. They Failed when it mattered most.

Both sides of the ball FAILED when it mattered most. No passes given.

They cant help themselves. You cant reason with fools.

Even if Dallas had put points up and took the lead, it was not near the end of the game. what the hell makes you so sure the defense would not have given it back? How many leads did we have and the defense spit the bed except one time out of 50?

This is foolish reasoning. Seriously, man.

The offense can only control itself. Suggesting that putting together a drive, bleeding down the clock and finishing with a score to take the lead does not drastically improve the chance of winning is some crazy logic.

What gives you the best chance to win? Taking down the clock and scoring to take the lead by a TD, or even just a field goal, or going 3 and out, not bleeding down the clock and leaving the game in the hands of your weakest unit?

The offense could have put together their own 6+ minute drive and won that game.

Isn't it the offenses job to produce points every time they get the ball?

Isn't it the defenses job to prevent the opponent from scoring?

Both sides fail a significant % of the time but I don't understand why some fans don't think it's reasonable to ask each unit to do their job.

I'm sure someone is getting ready to respond
"why are you just blaming dak"
"dak didn;t lose that game"
"Dak is a top 5 QB"

or some other silliness. So what if our offense is "highly ranked"....#1 even. If you want the elite label...you HAVE to take that ball down the field and score a TD.

It just doesn;t matter if our defense is bad. And they are. Game is on the line...man up. SHow us what you are really made of!

They did.
