In 2022 our defense was championship worthy. They played very well in the San Francisco Playoff loss. The offense killed us in that game especially when Pollard we down.
No it wasn't it was far from that don't get delusional on thinking 'cause it was a lower score you blame me everything on the offense I remember although those two games overlap 2021 and 2022 with the San Francisco playoff losses I remember Debo Samuel's getting 10 yards to carry in the first half of one of those games even though the score was low they were eating up time of possession meaning less time for the offense to be on the field I also remember Trayvon Diggs dropping an interception that would have been a championship level move would it not have but he didn't he's supposed to catch interceptions and he didn't and he also didn't break up a pass to Kittles that was a huge play he just basically is soft..
Yes the score was low but he was not all on the offense that defense had problems as well... For you to understand what time of possession is but when you allow a team to keep the ball that long and a lot of those drives are really long especially in the first half they are basically taken away a lot of opportunities for the offense and now you want the offense to be perfect..
Like I said these two games overlap so much I can't remember which one it was but yes one of them there was 11 penalties on offense but there were also three big penalties on the defense that extended drives again time of possession matters..
I think it's a mirage for you to think they played at a championship level they did play well enough to keep the scores down and kicking field goals instead of touchdowns and gave the opportunity for the offense to catch up But yes the offensive line in the run game were horrible I don't care how good Pollard looked his like 3.5 yards per carry were nicer than the 2.5 that after he left but he wasn't doing anything big that is another bad narrative where your memories are still flawed..
Run games were not good and when you say before Pollard went out but the run game was not anything but barely effective before he got hurt after he got hurt it disappears so how's the offense supposed to be good with zero run game again one dimensional and 4 down lineman were getting to the quarterback and stopping the run all day that means everybody was covered on zone in the back end...
Get those two games we're close so it makes people think that it's a it's the offense's fault but if you really go back and watch those games it was not great defense they played well enough to hold the score down but they gave up way too many long drives and missed opportunities to make big plays championship defense is absolutely shut teams down and they take every opportunity if there's a fumble they get on it if there's an interception they get on it if they have a chance to break up a play, they do it..
I agree it was better than say the Green Bay debacle But if you even look at the Rams game in 2018 in the second round the defense was horrible at stopping the run but that was a close game But that didn't really show what was really going on with the time of possession we lost it in the 2nd quarter but they're running the ball all over us but it was still a 6 point game most of the game that doesn't mean it was great defense it that was just circumstances.
But when a team can run that much and where your defense out and also move the chains enough for long possessions even if they end up in a punt or a field goal versus a touchdown they are still effective that defense is in championship level it's just better than it's been yes I would take that over the Green Bay 2023 mess that we saw.
