I am ok with the compensation to be honest. A first next year hurts because its a great class but they should be drafting in the high 20s next year so its a longer term play which I really like.

As for next year they could get a player in the draft.

I know, some will say he is a solid players as to where they may get another Mazi in the draft.
But as of now I do not like it.

He isn't "solid" he is really really really good at a position of massive need.

Finally a trade for a DT that can stop the run and rush the passer and is under 30 years old. Cowboys have not done a trade for a DT since Tony Casillas before it was John Dutton. Casillas got Super Bowl rings and Dutton was in NFC championship games. Williams has 2 to 3 years left on a contract at 27 years old.

What did Jerry Dumbo GM Jones give up for Williams? Williams has been worn down playing the run this year as the Jets have played from behind a lot.

Go get Simmons then you have a shot a NFC Championship game.

This is more for next season IMO. This season is done. But to get a stud d lineman in his prime will help for the next few years and beyond.

Hey maybe they are starting to realize their faults.

They cant draft DTs so trade for one who is already established.

Roseman realized this when it comes to WRs and traded for Brown after taking Raegor over Jefferson.

Considering how terrible we are at drafting 2nd rounders, this is a pretty nice trade for us. Bonus is getting rid of Mazi

Some cap relief there as opposed to cutting him.
