TRADED Glazer: Cowboys trade for DT Quinnen Williams

Quinnen is a dawg in his prime. I’m okay with the price. It’s steep, but he’s a dawg. A tier one DT in his prime. He’s got one year of double digit sacks which is highly elite for a DT. He’s not Donald or Sapp who both had multiple double digit sack seasons, with Donald just not being human. However, he is still very dominant. He’s a disruptive force on the field against the run and the pass. That’s a special combo. It would be nice to have paired this guy with Micah, but oh well.

Will say one bright spot for the FO this year has been the importance of the DT spot.
Clark is on the decline, but still average.
Williams is a stud.

I’m conflicted on this guys. I like the player I just don’t know if we overpaid. I’m happy we got a legit DT, FINALLY, but I wanted to keep all our 1st rounders. Help me out ladies and gentlemen, is this good or did we shoot ourselves in the foot? Also as I think about this I’m not thinking this year. This year is a wrap and I’ve accepted that. I’m thinking the next 2 years and the years that follow. Can we resign him? Is he long term? I’m relieved it’s not a one year rental but is he worth a 1st round pick since 1st rounders are 5 year deals?

This defense needs an entire rebuild. One that requires multiple high round picks to accomplish. I'd rather have that capital on draft day to use to trade up or whatever to acquire multiple players if the opportunity presents itself.

Williams is a great player and hopefully he will be with us long term. But as I said earlier, this year is done.

Don’t let facts get in the way of their typical over reaction party, they’ll be *****ing and crying about 12 months from now how the defense and O line still suck.

I get it. It’s a concern, but I think individual players can be posting dominant play in the midst of chaotic, failing defenses or offenses. That’s just how football is.

A lot of variables to consider, which for me the most important is what are the odds of Dallas drafting a player comparable to Williams with the picks they gave up? It’s unlikely imo. We are paying for a known known. Age is a variable too and he’s 27. Conceivably there are still a lot of dominant, productive years in his future.

These are deals that DAL should have done or looked into WAY back in March and through the off-season.


BUT no... let's wait until a playoff spot is basically out of reach.

QWilliams has not been available even though every NFL team wanted him.

Logan Wilson was a solid upgrade over Kenneth Murray for a 7th but is a shorter-term guy. At that price who cares.
QWilliams and Pickens are elite talents in their primes.



Fire Eberflus this off-season, hire a good scheme guy and go draft young defenders.

Make no mistake eyes will still bleed watching this team this year but at last, they have a real direction and chance to get better soon.
Draft a starting CB, move DaRon back into the slot, Draft a big SAM LB, get healthy at safety and you can be cooking with grease next year.

I’ll say it again: do you trust the FO to hit in late first draft picks? Track record wise…no. Trading for a known commodity is a perfect use of the picks.
