Brian Schottenheimer is an Elite Head Coach

I wouldn't label anyone as an elite coach until I've seen sustained high level success, but I think Coach Schottenheimer is going to be a great one. Lots of reasons to be optimistic right now.

I like schotty. But him having 2 stud receivers makes a huge difference. Them actually trading for a legit top DT and made an in season trade to fix LB has made a huge difference on defense. Without pickens or QW no one would say schotty is an elite coach, talent matters..

A 3-game winning streak can be intoxicating....

....but I'm with you to a degree.

Would Schotty have been ready by then to be successful?

Is it possible that these last few years of additional experience increased his probability of being successful?

It’s crazy how you hang around here as much as you dislike the team.

You should spend your time doing something you enjoy.
I've gotten so many comments today from people that I have no idea who they are and I don't think I've ever interacted with them on here before.

Everyone is coming out of the woodwork today.

I will say. Schottenheimer has definitely overcome some adversity (injuries) with the help of the FO (trades for Pickens, Clark, Wilson and Quinnen, signings of Clowney and Javonte)

Impressive.

The Cowboys can scout RBs like no other. They signed Javonte and sat him throughout preseason to roll him as the starter. That is some balls.

Can’t go there yet for me…. Again, I like his demeanor, I like so far that it seems he has buy in from the team but need to see more.

Totally fair to say I’m just a jaded cowboys fan, I’ve been burnt the last decade or so but saying elite already is a bit premature but I hope with enough sample size in a year we are saying it with conviction
I agree with this. I'm mostly impressed with the effort. Winning or losing, this team doesn't quit.

The one decision I disagreed with was going for 2 up 26-21. It was too early. I was worried about one thing, and it played out that way.

Get the extra point and make it 27-21. If for some reason we get the ball back and kick a FG, we'll be up two scores. But if we miss the 2 point conversion, then kick a FG, we're up by 8. But we converted and it didn't matter.

He definitely has constructed an elite offense....that's not debatable
Well, did HE? Or was it Jerry finally making some necessary moves?

Hmmm...

I know we dump on JJ every season for his awful GM moves, but when the Cowboys have a solid roster brewing, we conversely have to give him some credit (as much as it pains us).

I said a few weeks ago that I wished we could have had Schottenheimer sooner. I'll double down here. So far, Brian Schottenheimer is an elite Head Coach.

Has he been perfect? No, but every coach makes a few errors. However, by and large, he's made a lot more great coaching decisions than mistakes. He's good with clock management so far. In a league where you can regularly call out mind numbingly stupid clock management decisions, Brian Schottenheimer (a rookie HC) hasn't made those. Sure, he's gotten a bit overly aggressive times, but a lot of coaches are aggressive now.

Furthermore, not only has he beaten both Super Bowl Teams in the span of 4 days. Not only has he also beaten the Commanders and was a dropped ball away from sweeping Philly. He's outright OUTCOACHED Andy Reid, Sirianni, and Quinn. Remember when we would be upset because we were regularly outcoached under Jason Garrett? I think it'd safe to say we are not being outcoached. He's putting the team in great positions to win (excluding maybe the Cardinals game, which he has really improved from). He's trusting his QB. He's calling mostly great plays. He's managing his time-outs brilliantly.

It's nice to finally be able to say that we have an elite Head Coach in 2025. Who'd have thought that we might actually have the best HC in the division at the start of the season? Even if we don't make the playoffs this year, I currently have full confidence in Schottenheimer in 2026.
rusty is fired up  :flagwave:

The jury is still out, I’ve actually had more fun the past few weeks than I’ve had in a while. I’m almost to the end of my rope with the team I fell in love with 48 years ago.
