The History Channel came out with a really great series in the late 2000's. Interesting and informative, but a bit generic. I watched that shortly after watching Ken Burns Civil War for the first time and hoped that he would tackle the subject. Since then I think his Vietnam series actually raised the bar high. A true masterpiece

He has so many great ones. My personal favorite is History of Jazz. I had that boxed CD set for that and wore it out. I don't think I ever got the people who appreciated Jazz until I watched that.

is now their goal. Seems to work better in that claustrophobic Aliens setting. She should get nominated for an award for her portrayal. Great job making the premise feel real. And have to admit, I am gaga eyed for that actress now, Sydney Chandler. She is cute! Maybe because she reminds me of an old girlfriend.

But some great acting all around. The evil Mark Zuckerberg clone, the Cyborg, and Timothy Olyphant as an android. I guess he's not considered a "big time" actor but I've always known who Olyphant is because he has the weird smirk on his face in everything he does. As if he knows something we don't. That same smartarse smirk went very well with the creepy android character. Great casting decisions all around! All the cyborgs with kid mentalities transplanted inside did a great job. And the whole show had that same creepy - but I gotta keep watching - vibe that the same creator did with his Fargo TV Series.

Show might be going against the timeline that the rest of alien franchise is located on.

On alien earth they start out with the time line being around the time of the original Alien movie. That is why the computers look older. Now if the alien gets lose on earth and goes wild like it has in all other alien movie situations...Earth and Weyland would not be the same. When Ripley sleeps a long time before coming back to earth and weyland it would not be the same if the alien spread. Do not know why that was bugging me during the show but just figured they would kill the alien before it spread. But not sure the girl can continue to control the alien to keep it from spreading.

I assumed Alien Earth took place in the future after the original alien movies for some reason. Some of the technology seems more advanced than in the original movies, and some seems behind even our current technology. It is a quick that is hard to reconcile.

I had to watch one of those Youtube videos that explained the whole Aliens timeframe when I was watching the Prometheus and prequel films that Ridley Scott made. I was lost. At the time, Aliens Earth wasn't developed, but I'm sure they have one now with its timeframe. Very complex history in these Alien franchises. Usually that bugs me, but I'm nerd enough to dig into the Aliens franchise. I don't know what their 'official' answer is on the timeline but it's very obvious that they borrowed a lot of the set design from the first Alien movie. Which is another reason I really enjoyed the series, because I've always liked that 70's steampunk space setting they made for it. What if 8-tracks went into outer space! LOL

I think the whole thing is pretty campy and the writing is bad. Not invested in any of the characters. I really gave this one a shot too.

I am conflicted about this one. The previews I have watched make it look like a bumbling mess....but If it is Vince Gilligan doing it, I think I have liked everything he does even if it can start out a little slow.

I am sure I will get around to at least give it a try.

My wife and I are watching that one now. Pretty good. The guy playing Niles does a good job of being a creep.

I finished watching the Wither S4 yesterday.

First, they have Liam Hemsworth looking and acting almost identically to Henry Cavill so there is no radical difference to overcome when you watch season 4.

Overall, this season is more of the same but I don't like the path they took with Cirilla. That seemed a bit off and it was hard for me to understand why they went in that direction with her. But with the season following 3 different storylines for each of the main characters I guess they need to invent something different for Ciri.

I enjoyed the season though not as much as earlier season. I have always felt season 4 is the turning point for any series that makes it that far. It must have been somewhat successful to last 4 season, but it is also when writers start to run out of ideas and start jumping sharks from there on out. Season 4 doesn't really have an ending. Season 5 is supposed to be the final season and I understand filming has already ended for the last season. That might be a smart decision not to go past 5 seasons. I am not sure what else another season would have to offer.

Season 4 gets a 6 out of 10 from me. But I suspect season 4 and 5 are actually one season in two parts. The last episode of S4 ended like it was just another episode in a single season.

It is good they wrapped up filming already because the way S4 ended the season 5 story has to pick up immediately after the story ends in season 4. The actors cannot age another 3 or 4 years before the next season is released.

I agree. It's almost like they're not even Star Wars related. Not full of silly looking, or silly acting creatures, and the storyline is very suspenseful. Also, the architecture and sets are top notch!

IF it lands more seasons I doubt I will bother.
Just was not keeping me interested.

I think it has gotten better.
i think the first couple episodes seemed to be more, lets see what we can do to try and gross people out. The demon baby thing was just goofy.
The other issue I think is slow rolling this series out before you even get a glimpse of Pennywise.
I think they wanted to get more of the back story but most of that has been slow.

Alien Earth. It had it issues and some things I would have liked to be done differently but it kept my interest throughout the season.

Slow Horses is still one of my favorites right now. I think it might be the best show that the fewest have watched. But I am a big Gary Oldman fan so maybe I am biased.

Enjoyed Last Samurai Standing and look forward to the second part, if they ever approve it.

I liked the shogun series although I think the one playing Blackthorn was not very good. I like how they were a little closer to the book with Toranaga playing more of a role but at the same time I loved the original mini series so much.

Landman is a couple episodes into season Two and I still love it. Never fails to make me laugh a time or two in each episode. Its a popsicle not a snow cone line had me rolling. Also it seems they are not having the annoying daughter in as much which is a good thing IMO.

I might have to go back and watch Stranger Things from the start again. Never watched last season but maybe I will binge the whole series after this season.

Witcher is another series that has started to become a chore to get through IMO. Maybe I need to binge watch that whole thing again when I am more into it.

I just finished Last Samurai Standing. I didn't realize it was a 2 part series. When I saw it was a limited series I thought it was 6 episodes and done. I am looking forward to part 2 as well. I liked it overall. Kind of like Squid Game meets 47 Ronin. Some really good sword fighting scenes - some of the best I have scene. Shogun was fantastic so I would not compare Last Sam Standing to that, but LSS was still good.

I agree with you about Witcher. I think any series that gets to 4 seasons starts to falter and this one does as well. It's like the writers run out of new material. Or they just jump the shark in a hail Mary attempt to stir up interest again. Next season is the last and that's probably best for the show.

I am not sure I am going to take on Stranger Things. That's another series that IMO needs to be put down already. The kids are too old for that stuff now. At this point the studio is just milking the cow for more profits.
