We've been top of the penalty stats for 25 years at least. Some of it is Jones culture, but some is also ref culture. Most refs are conditioned to throw more flags against Dallas than Green Bay or Pittsburgh for example.

I know no one wants to hear this but penalties can be called every play. You can always find something to call. How the refs determine when to call it I don’t know I get offsides and Pi. But holding isn’t about general manager or ownership.

Sure, but is it just by chance that the Cowboys are consistently one of the most penalized teams? Or perhaps the conspiracy isn't so much a conspiracy at all, and the refs are out to get us... (I'm playing devil's advocate).

Interesting that Garrett is still our greatest puppet this era. An era since 2000 which has only seen 10 playoff seasons in 25 years.

He was our HC for 2 divisional round games, OC for our other 2 divisional round games .

As a matter of fact he’s the only HC and or Coordinator coach this era to be on all 4 Divisional round playoff games .

And is likely to retain the 2nd most wins in franchise history because of longevity.

It’s a great example how bad this era has been and not very likely to get much better.

This Shotty first season. He has made some poor choices but more good than bad.The defense is the obvious issue

I firmly believe, as I've stated many times, it's all about discipline. So many players think they "made" it when they don the uniform. Winning becomes secondary. Two SB coaches in Cowboy history, both were disciplinarians that tolerated zero failure. They wouldn't hesitate to cut a player.

We often try to make penalties a coaching and discipline issue, but penalties are often times a talent issue. Guys don't hold because they beat their man, they hold when they've lost the rep. DBs for the most part don't get PI calls when they have great position on a wr....sometimes its just a matter of not getting their head around or they get called on an underthrown ball which I hate, but more often than not its because the DB got beat and starts grabbing.

The Cowboys this year have a ton of penalties, but also have the most penalties called in their favor. This makes a ton of sense as they have some elite players who draw penalties regularly (Pickens for example), but also have some players that get beat regularly and start grabbing/tripping/etc.

Continuity. Jerrah loves him some. We know what the constant is, the Jones family. They aren’t going away. This is the Dallas Cowboys now. Get used to the same for the next 3 years with Schotty. Then some other coach no one in the league would consider hiring.

More good? This team was eliminated from the playoffs and end the season with a sub 500 win percentage with Dak. League leader in penalties. Terrible losses at home. Stop with the Shottenheimer support. There is a reason no one else would hire him.

Pickens and Lamb have made it part of their game to draw PIs.

Still I’d like to see the break down of holding calls. Especially on punt returns where holding seemingly DOES happen every play, but ends up being a ref judgment.

Special teams penalties are an issue that IMO could be at least partially coaching related. 29 ST penalties this year feels like waaaay too many and could be an issue either with techniques they are using, or simply being too aggressive/creative with a home run threat like Turpin. I really can't say as I havent done any sort of a deep dive on ST, but will say that overall it does seem like we are getting way too many calls there.
