So far, in two games, playoff teams won with 16 and 23 points. We know Dallas cannot win that kind of game.
The other three games were won with 27, 31, and 31 points, but all three were won by 3-4 points, and all three of those were won with their defense making a last minute stand. Anyone see that happening with the Cowboys roster?
We are right where we should be, out of the playoffs, drafting 12 and 20 in the first round, but really needing to get into the 2nd round somehow. This team has no chance without receivers, a run game, and a solid defense.
Imagine the 70’s Cowboys trying to win a SB without Pearson, without Duane Thomas, Calvin Hill, and Tony Dorsett. Or imagine them winning or even competing without Doomsday.
Imagine the 90’s team winning without Irvin or without Emmitt, or two OTs that struggle in pass protection, or without Doomsday 2. Fans love to say you can’t have everything, and that’s true in the salary cap era, but you won’t score enough points without a good OL and weapons, and you won’t win with a defense that cannot get off the field or at least make a team one-dimensional so the DC has a chance to scheme some stops.
Jerry has always banked on winning with a good QB and at least 1 star on offense and a stud pass rusher on defense. He doesn’t get the fact that championships or even deep playoff runs require balanced teams and good coaching.
