Curious Case of Keldric Faulk

What makes them bad though? Their actual scouting or just how they deliver it?
Both depending on the person. Voch, Broadus and Cavanaugh are ego maniacs who are wrong pretty often. Somebody like say.....foots is wrong on takes like anybody else but he's not being extra like those other 3.

But that's just my opinion. People will watch what they want. Voch has a whole fanclub it seems. I don't get it but whatever.

Yeah but everyone is wrong. There’s no exact science to it. Like I think Mendoza will be a good qb in this league but if he sucks that isn’t on me. Busts just happen.

Just going by people I listen to aka Bryn Broadas
I love BB and Voch but they are notorious for not liking guys without big production and / or the super bendy guys.

Check out some others and you will find people that have him high.

I am a fan if Nate Tice and Fran Duffy for their draft content and they both had him super high...Nate had him 1 overall at 1 point!

Lack of talent at the top means lack of trade partners...there's always a chance but I don't see it very likely this year.

And if there is a player a team wants to trade up for it's probably someone we should just take.
Like I said, it depends on need and player availability by the time we pick. This class isn’t that devoid of starting talent that the 12th pick isn’t desirable to someone. We aren’t guaranteed a partner, but I’d say it’s more likely than not.

I mean there is 1 1st round QB and zero blue chip prospects...

Maybe a team gets desperate but I think when the dust settles there will likely be about 13-15 true 1st round grades so if a team is willing to trade up there is a chance we don't get a legit 1st rounder.

He is one of those players I hope someone takes before we pick or that the Cowboys pass on.

I do not see him as the twitchy bendy type. I think he is more of a Run Stopping DE. I think this team needs a more twitchy, bendy guy with a great first step that can get the to QB whether that be a sack or a good pressure that makes the QB pass before he is ready.

Faulk probably impacts run defense more than any player in the last few drafts. Which is pretty impressive for a DE (well as long as you agree with me on that assessment

To be valued as high as he is some places, you have to buy into Calais Campbell/ Cam Jordan type upside. For this team, after two year if he will have to be an interior rusher to get on the field on pass downs, then he probably isnt a fit.
Speaking of the Saints, could Jordan be our new Glover or is he done??

One of the most polarizing draft prospects in the class. Some analysts I really respect have him high as top 5 some have him more as a bottom of the 1st kind of player. I'm a little torn b/c in the top 20 I'm typically looking for a Edge that checks boxes for size/length, athleticism and production (ideally in a power 5 conference). The production just hasn't been there.

BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUT...There is a little more to unpack.

1. Auburn used him in a funky way where he was playing all across the DL and even when outside was in more of a 2 gap type scheme limiting his ability to fully produce.
2. He was 19 freaking years old when he had 7 sacks and 10+ TFLs in his best season so his best football is ahead of him.

I'm not pounding the table for him but he is very intriguing to me and I could get on board at 12 if we go that route. Will he ever be a + pass rusher? I don't know...but I do know he'll be a + run defender that can create some pressure across the entire DL.

I wonder if he can turn into a Michael Bennett type player? Base end on early down with ability to kick inside on passing downs and give you 6-8 sacks a year while being a monster against the run.
They should take an edge with production. Bailey, Mesidor, or Height.

Bailey is the only Edge that excites me at 12...Mesidor is old and has injury concerns and Height is old and small.

Iirc both of us were fans of Mykel Williams last year. I think they are a bit different in that Williams is more a pure even front DE where as Faulk is more of an odd front DE that might develop into a good front DE as well. I think Faulk carries a bit more value and has more upside
The new defensive coordinator will probably decide if Faulk is a fit. I personally think the Cowboys have been looking for a Faulk type prospect for years. I think Mykel Williams would have been the pick at 12 if the 49ers passed on him. Guys like Voch and Broaddus are putting out negative press on Faulk because he doesn’t rush the passer. What a bunch of cow manure.

Height dominated the Utah tackle. Mesidor is awesome. Both could go around 20 or late 1st. I would be happy with any of the 3.
