Signed by Cowboys Cowboys hire Eagles secondary coach Christian Parker as DC

[RustyBourneHorse]

I like it

Get him Sonny Styles and McCoy and lets go

Definitely! And I hope we get busy in FA!!

Fwiw, here are the Eagles FAs (since we are getting their secondary coach): https://www.bleedinggreennation.com...cy/168821/list-of-2026-eagles-free-agents-nfl

Give me Dean, Blankenship, and Phillips! Give me those three, Pickens and Aubrey resigned, and then Styles and McCoy, and this team can be super lethal!

Actually think we get 2 comp picks now...1 3rd for this year...and another for 2027.

when he goes on to be a GM or HC we get picks

[Aliencowboy]

This is a huge step in the right direction

[Proof]

You are so wrong. This is the opposite of a Jerry hire. Gannon would have been a Jerry hire. Eberflus. Zimmer. Nolan.

This is the kind of hire that the best orgs make.

Go check out reactions from other fandoms and see.

the next time you pay any attention to something that guy says should be the last.

We only get one if they leave for a head coach or above position.

[Kwyn]

You have no idea what you’re talking about. This is the most unjerry thing we’ve seen in years

Coogs. You liked both comments. The negative and then the positive rebuttal.

We need to get you on some meds!

[RustyBourneHorse]

This is a huge step in the right direction

Definitely! And there are some players I hope he brings with him! If we can get Dean, Blankenship, and Phillips, we could become a legitimately scary team (especially if we get Styles and McCoy in the draft as well).

Not sure how I feel on this. It's definitely outside the box for this organization. Living up here in the Philly area, Parker is very well respected. I caught a beat writer on WIP this morning raving about him and how people around the league think he's the next star defensive guy.

But I also thought this team, given where they are, needed a proven guy.

Hmmmm.............

I think it goes hand in hand. If he’s the next defensive guy then that means he’s ready. Either you can do it or can’t. Mind you all we are asking of him is to get us into the top 20 and not be dead last.

I like the fact that they aren't bringing in a retread. He's young, rising, and hopefully, comes with fresh innovative ideas on the defensive side to combat all of the young offensive geniuses from the Shanahan tree among others.

I hope the FO gives him a voice as it pertains to FA (both who to retain and who outside the organization fits his defense) and the draft. Fingers crossed they are active in the first days and week of FA and hit homeruns in the draft defensively.

Will the new DC have a say in hiring his own staff? Assuming they had him agree with Whitecotton as DL coach.

[RustyBourneHorse]

A proven guy is not what they need.
They need someone highly rated, waiting for an opportunity with fresh ideas...

And this would certainly be new ideas, which I wanted. Now if we can get a few of his players from Philly to follow, we can have players that know what system he likes, and we'd be able to make our defence drastically better in one offseason.

[ConstantReboot]

Quinton Mitchell and Cooper DeJean both becoming All-Pros is definitely a feather in his cap.

Add in Patrick Surtain to that list.

[Risen Star]

Smart move by Dallas to have him sign the contract before he can meet the players.

That only applies to the team that develops and loses a candidate promoted to HC or GM

[Sydla]

Proven guys are hard to get your hands on. The most established guy, Schwartz isnt really available. Hard to say if Flores was really available. He took one DC interview and who knows if he was even serious about. You're proven guy this cycle was Gannon. I like him as a DC than most than most of the posters here, but he was my 4th out of the likely candidates

I think my issue is that this team has a really small window right here and taking a guy that's never called a defensive game seems like a massive risk. But the flipside here is that it seems definitely out of the comfort zone for Jerry, so that's a good thing (and maybe sign for the offseason?).

[Floatyworm]

And to think we are hiring the guy from Philly....the biggest complaint about the Philly defense was their horrendous secondary.

You can't make this crap up anymore....think I'm done with the stupidity of this franchise. It's time for a complete reboot of the franchise including the owner.

A smart coordinator knows what he is getting into, stop with the nonsense.

we'll be a lethal weapon!!!!!!

Correct, but, if he is good enough to become a HC in a few years, then we would get two 3rds.

[RustyBourneHorse]

That and, if we sign those three, we'd have veterans that know the system that Parker would want to run. That would make things less confusing for our players, and we'd also get great players infused on our team.
