I am happy it is someone young and smart, that shotty wants to work with.
Then after FA and draft lets see what it looks like then.

A couple of observations.

1. No one trusts anything from the organization at this point; everyone seems to want a big name, proven guy. No one wants it to be about so and so knew someone, or the coach wants people he's comfortable with.
2. Be reminded that almost no one in cowboys fandom was happy when Tom Landry was fired, and most were very unhappy when Jimmy Johnson was hired. Most felt he ran a clown show in Miami with the camo military vibe and all the talking and showboating. When Jimmy and Jerry went 1-15 in the first season, no one was even going to the games. I visited from Richmond Va that year, and even in sports bars, no one was talking about the Cowboys. We were asked everywhere we went why we came to see the stadium and watch a Cowboys game.

I'd also like to remind everyone that Jimmy brought almost all of his coaches with him from Miami....His DC, DL coach, OL coach, receivers coach....Wannstadt, Wise, Davis, and Hubbard were considered the key figures, but he actually brought the majority of his defensive staff, including Dave Campo, and all the key figures from the offense. Even graduate assistants like Tommy Tuberville and Ron Meeks eventually joined the staff.
That seemed to work out pretty well over time. Maybe it's not actually about how something is done, but more about how good the players are evaluated and developed, along with how good the coaches are and if they share a common vision.

Just a thought.

Honestly, for me, not only that, but this isn't a normal hire by Jerry. As opposed to hiring desperate coaches, he actually went for a coach that has experience and was in demand. And it's someone that has actual potential to be a HC someday. That says a lot. And if this is more Schotty's pick than Jerry's, that's probably a good thing lol.

I changed it from no to yes. I thought for sure there was another Marinelli, Nolan, Eberflus thinking or lack of thought They seemed to actually want a good young improving coach.

That really depends on us getting 4-5 new players for the D, including a FS and LBs
