Blaming Jerry is the lazy way out

Ok...sorry about that. Didn't mean to insult. It is certainly just my humble opinion...that tackling was part of defensive woes. Not just scheme, but serious technique issues.

When I watched the playoff teams....they seemed almost recklessly violent by comparison.

Again...sorry mate. My bad.
Me too!!

Tackling at the NFL level takes talent. Basically, if a runner is coming at you, he's mostly going to swerve or cut. As the tackler you must possess the sideways agility to get/stay in front of him, the quickness of foot to get/stay in front of him, and the instincts. The instincts in this case is sort of a 2nd sense that tells you which way he's going to go. Sort of a freaky ability. Remember when Sean Lee would just take off right at the snap and be where the ball was coming? How'd he know? Instincts.

So, the bad tackling you're seeing w/ our team is mostly due to the tackler not possessing the physical ability to get/stay in front of the ball carrier. No matter what a coach is coaching, if you don't possess this ability it's not going to matter.

Those arm tackles you see slipping off? That's due to the tackler not being able to stay in front of the ball carrier to make a solid tackle. It might be a technique issue a very small percentage of the time, but mostly it's due to lacking of physical traits and/or instincts.

So, why does Murray suck? Instincts. He has all the physical traits you could desire. So, what's wrong? His instincts are so bad, not only does he take too long to head in the right direction, he often heads in the wrong direction first. That's why every once in a while he'll look good as he guesses right. Overall though, he's a bad player, as he has been since he came into the league in 2020. And since you don't go from having a terrible lack of instincts to having instincts, it was an absolutely awful signing. Beyond awful.

You can look at every failed player in the NFL, and 90%+ of the time it's lack of lateral agility, burst, and/or instincts.

I do.

I also believe many of the players are not without blame. Be it bucking the culture, holding fellow players accountable, lackadasicial playing...etc.
Those can be true, but it's mostly lack of lateral agility/burst, and/or instincts.

I saw someone post this in response to the Dallas Jerrys fans

Jerry is responsible for this: last time each team was in NFC CG

Um ....

- Jerry is the only owner in the entire NFL who is also the team general manager ... and he sucks at it.

- Jerry has a gigantic, tumor-like ego that precludes him from hiring the best of the best head coaches who want some actual power because he can't stand to give up any real amount of power over his play-thing. It's like a child who won't share a toy with anyone else.

- Jerry is mystifyingly cheap every year in free agency, despite all his wealth.

- Jerry purposefully - (admits it openly) - creates "drama" around the franchise just for cheap, constant attention to feed previously said ego. That flies in the face of creating an actual winning culture.

- Jerry undercuts his coaches constantly with his weekly media appearances during the season. Few if no other team owners do that across the league.

In short, while players have underachieved and choked at times, coaches have done poorly, etc., etc. - there is no single cause for the decades of failure greater than the one at the top of the Cowboys' food chain - Jerry Jones. Period.

Jerry: That's it, I'm taking my ball and going home!!!

I used to think Jerry was a good owner and bad GM. I now realize he's a very bad owner as he should have replaced his loser GM years ago. And no, I do not consider three 12-5 seasons in 30 years winning. Not for the Dallas Cowboys.

We never had a Super bowl contender during those three 12-5 years.

Everything is literally Jerry's fault.
Nobody else can be blamed for ANYthing?

Jerry doesn't miss tackles or drop footballs. Yes..he hired them...but....why do players get a free pass...nothing is their fault...EVER?

Dude....

are you calling this a "drought" Chuck

Levels of blame.

Here's what you're missing: Jerry is the one who shouldn't be giving them a pass.
Right. I already said "buck stops HERE". jerry hires and pays people. His job to hire and hold people accountable...right? Right.

But I think it's dumb (not people...the idea) to say everybody else is so cool and doing their jobs 100%. Absolved.

How about somebody rebel? Light a fire? Excel? Be seen YELLING (ala Aikman).

If you (they) BUY into the "culture"...then they are EVERY bit as much to blame.
