Exactly.......Hell, it took me and many college friends a few years to manage money coming out of college. You get ya degree and start making $50K+, tons of pre-approved credit cards start rolling in, and you first new car, all while trying to impress the ladies. You are arrogant, cocky and confident ...........until you get a dose of reality. You can find yourself in serious debt really fast.

But after a few years, things start to settle a bit, and some of the silly and immature stuff doesn't mean as much. Life starts taking a different meaning, so to speak.

As you said, it happens to most of us at that young age, whether you're making millions or $35K

Managing life on $65k is a hell of a lot harder than managing life on millions. The guy making $65k is going to have it tough even if he/she has a good level of common sense. The person making millions with the same level of common sense should be able to live somewhat comfortably.
 
People forget these are basically kids handed generational money overnight. Imagine being 22 with millions.......most of us would've made some questionable moves too. Anyone claiming they'd be perfectly responsible at that age is kidding themselves.

You're barely out of your teens and you suddenly add millions, fame, pressure to take care of everyone, and zero financial education. That’s a volatile mix. It’s exactly why stories like this are so common.

You right he should, but discipline is a hard thing when it is voluntary. Remember we are talking about 22-26 year olds

He made over $3 million his first two seasons so he was probably around $3.5 million made when he ran out of money.

This is not at all uncommon.

5.5M is a lot of money but DLaw didn't get a check worth anything near 5.5M.
Rookies don't have tax shelters or good financial advisors.
They are in a new city and need a home/car.
They see their vet teammates living a life of actual wealth.
Everyone else's wife and GF have designer everything.

They get a 1-time bonus that is the largest money most have ever seen. They think they are rich.
They buy some dumb stuff and help some people who helped them.

Then they see the actual game checks and are like "huh". Thats it? No more signing bonuses for 4 years?
They are getting a check minus dues, taxes, agent fees. And they only get 16-18 of those checks.
Rest of the year they are living on savings so have more money going out then coming in.

Teams love it! They can get these guys to resign early for cheap. Because they badly need that 2nd bonus to cover the NFL lifestyle.
 
Most of us forget that their checks are subject to payroll taxes, just like me and well, most of us on this site.

They aren’t protected from income taxes like people who make money off investments which have a significantly lower tax rate.

I’m never surprised when I see stories like this, it this was what, seven years ago when that happened? I’m sure it only took him until his next game to be straight.

Here's the thing,

you say that though,

the last time I checked, and I know people break the rules or the rules are flexible,

we're supposed to be talking about Cowboys related stuff actual Dallas Cowboys stuff on the main page,

 see this is what you guys can do you can put it in NFL news ,or unrelated news ,and you guys don't have to put all these non-cowboy stories on the front page...

this is the Cowboys zone not the NFL zone, you see that there's different parts of this place...

So, when I open it up my expectations is we're going to be discussing Cowboys, and it should be related to the Cowboys, just because D Law or Parsons used to play for the Cowboys, that's not Cowboys news anymore.


I realize it's a slow time, but I'm tired of hearing about how I don't have to read it,

I'm not supposed to see it, when we signed up here, we're under the impression only Cowboys related stories went in this section, and now if you want to do 6 degrees of separation because we're playing them or there's a trade about to happen between the two teams, OK, there's some flexibility there,

but I don't think you realize how frustrating it is for us to have to see these headlines clogging up the front page about players we no longer like or follow and about games we don't want to follow like the Super Bowl, doesn't have a team in it, that has any cowboy relation at all,

and yet here we're hearing stories about Jim Swartz and the Eagles coaches and other things that have nothing to do with us.

Of course, I don't have to read it ,

but I think that we should not have to even see it because there are Many other sections that that stuff should be put in and again, I'm not in control of it.

so, I'm not going to force it, but I am going to complain about it, there's too many.

how is Jim Swartz have anything to do with the Cowboys and yeah he's on our front page story about him retiring is news this is not the news section this is the Cowboys news section, and again I see where the Eagles in our division, but why do we have to talk about the Eagles coaching situation because it doesn't matter now, until it's worked out..


when we have the whole story Also tank being in the Super Bowl and the revenge that really is not cowboy related, I know you can try to link that one but it's just not OK with me,

therefore, I'll complain about it so you continue to put it up and I'm going to open it and complain about it...

Got a cowboy and he's taking up too much of our front page because I don't care how well or not well he does outside of the Cowboys walls he's not inside those walls anymore I don't care about him this is as bad as Parsons we're talking about players that are gone far too often when we're not playing them look if their game is coming up on the schedule and we're facing them fine talk about it if not it is becoming a giant waste of space for us to talk about players that used to play here..

Yes that's my opinion I can't control who posts what but I can share control what I write and I'm saying I have no interest in Parsons D law Lewis anybody they're gone I don't care how they're doing in Chicago ,Nayshawn Wright so and??.

It's a steady covet thy neighbor look what we lost blah blah blah like Jerry made mistakes letting these guys go and they had warts when they were here and people don't want to admit they were all over wanting these players cut not just last year but like three years prior the whole hot boys thing nobody wanted tank around but now they act like 0 yeah we knew how good a player he was no he's being covered up on a great defense right now and good for him...
