Look to everyone in here thinking new early free agents , soon to be FAs, or guys due a new deal on a 5th year or FT, are gonna somehow sign right now for the first offer...lol umm ok :facepalm: :huh: :popcorn:

That's not how this works, some of these guys are finally free, and they get to now have teams' wine, dine, try to court them, biggest number typically wins.

They Want to see who wants them, and they want to pick the best situation, Typically it's all about money, but it might be about fit, finally getting a ring or at least a chance to get one.

This blaming Jerry get them signed early., they'll sign cheaper crowd, that goes for all of our guys on our team up for contracts,

that doesn't always work out, that is why you have representation people,

this is why you allow this process to work, they want to see the bids ,they want to see the offers, they want to feel special, some of them is for their first time and they want to see how it works out, or it could be their last time, either way, they're not just going to sign this week when real free agency period and the real new league year starts very soon,

they're going to wait, there's no way they sign any deals right now...

Fans understand that Jerry calls a lot of players out for contracts and it doesn't always happen or it happens when it could have happened sooner

Except for an effort to retain some of their own free agents I don’t believe Philly will be aggressive in free agency. It’s time for “cap correction”. Bears, though, “for sure”.

Look, sarcasm or not, that’s not the point. The point is these players and their agents know to wait for multiple offers—they’re not signing early. That includes some of our contracts people accused us of mishandling without actually knowing what went on behind the scenes. This whole “should’ve offered earlier and got him cheaper” idea is nonsense. How do you know? You’re just assuming without knowing any details about how those negotiations went down.

Same thing with Parsons—they did offer him a deal in principle. Sure, they hadn’t fully spoken to his agent yet, but once the agent saw the offer, I believe Jerry was right. Not in the same colorful language he used, but David basically told him to get lost—there was no way they were signing for that. It didn’t need to be official; they wanted more, pushed for more, and things got crazy.

I’ve never believed guys like Prescott or his reps, whether for the first or second deal, were ever going to sign early for longer terms at a team-friendly price just because it was offered sooner. That’s why players have representation—so they don’t take cheaper deals.

The old premise was that if they took $100 million guaranteed now, they’d have a nest egg if they got hurt. That’s not how it works. Prescott bet on himself twice, played on the franchise tag, got hurt, and still managed to get everything from Jerry. Second contract was the same—he waited, was patient, was willing to play out his final year, and Jerry still gave him exactly what he wanted.

In the world with players knowing this where they sign contracts for earlier or for cheaper that did work back in the day now most of these players who are at this level like the better players the cream of the crop guys I wouldn't say all the elite guys but just the A players the starters they know better than taking the first offer or signing too early and taking less,

They know that game now.. Yes most of them are willing to bet on themselves and even after injured got record deals especially with Jerry he pays his players if they're loyal doesn't matter, if they get injured.

Even players around the league are starting to do this.


Look I get it Everyone going to blame Jerry because he thinks he's always getting fleeced or overpaying because he waited too long, but I still believe that narrative ,while some of it might be true, and it was truer in the past,

it's no longer true,

I don't think they purposely want to pay more money, that doesn't sound like how a guy got to be worth $15 billion.

In all honesty I wouldn’t mind if they didn’t break the bank on this guy. Would he help? Of course, but you’re mostly paying for a name.

Rather see a 4-5 man rotation at edge as opposed to one player making a ton and the rest are non-factors.

If they sign him, great, but I’m not going to cry about them being cheap if they don’t.
