Our recent WR2's before Pickens

And paying a QB that can't win in January and making him the highest paid player in the history doesn't?
Hey, you will no disagreement with me on that. We WAY overpaid for Dak. I was against that contract from the beginning.

Unfortunately, that ship has sailed and can’t be undone. But I agree that we should beat that dead horse all the time. It makes me feel better too! Lol

We have an elite QB who will be even more elite next year.

Elite QBs are able to move the ball against great defenses even with medicore talent around them. Thats why they are labled "elite".

Short: Best for the team is to get a good QB. Everything else is just gossip.
How elite is elite with our precious amazing qb

Noah Brown, Brandon Cooks, and Jalen Tolbert, how did these options work out for us?? With all the Pickens talk so far, having a great #2 WR is a special thing. Do we want to go back to options as these, or an option like Pickens, I think we all know the answer, but is it best for this team??? Please give your thoughts
I’m going to argue that Lamb is now Dak’s #2 until he quits dropping balls. I’m beginning to think he might actually be a 3 being paid like a 1.

Exactly, most of our fans are weird

We need Defense, not another $30M+ WR.

Look back at 2023 season, Dak out performed last season.
We'll see when uoir complaining next year that the Offense sucks when Lamb is doubled and tripled

That argument died when Pickens disappeared and we saw Lamb step back up

Dude. You can have Pickens (and THE best man-beating tandem in the NFL) and have defense. The Cowboys can free up over 100 million with restructures and releases. This false dilemma is getting pretty comical at this point. You even have guys wondering if we should draft a RB or an OT with the first two picks. The silly off-season is definitely underway.
Dude, they aren’t going to restructure contacts to free up 100 million. How many off seasons do we say this lol. Yes they can but they never have. So until they do I’m not playing make believe that they can sign Pickens for 30 million a year and sign free agents on defense that are actual good players that will cost money and not JAGS.

Well, Pickens wasn’t the problem; the defense was. I don’t know why you keep saying we have to fix the defense by getting rid of Pickens. It’s not a reasonable argument, especially when Pickens is the reason we won about four to five more games than we should have.
Never said Pickens was the problem. There is a salary cap and if you pay a QB 60 million and two WR’s 30 million plus then that doesn’t leave you a lot to fix a defense that has a ton of holes.
Let’s put it this way, Cowboys offense was top 3 last year while the defense was bottom 3. If the offense moves back to 5-8 range and the defense moves up to 15-10 range then we are talking about a playoff team.

Now if you tell me Jerrah is going to restructure a ton of contacts to free up enough money to sign Pickens and sign some solid defensive players that can make a difference vs the JAGS they signed last year well then sign me up.
If they don’t free up that money and the cap is tight then we are looking at pretty much the same team as last year that had one of the easiest schedules in the NFL and still couldn’t make the playoffs.

What are you talking about. Prescott was restructured in March of 2025.

We are fine with the cap. We are one of the teams with the least amount of dead money. Compare that to the Eagles, who do not have much room to work with. We are still in a very good position to sign other free agents and fit in Pickens. All this talk that we cannot afford him is an over-reaction. We can afford him and sign some free agents to fix the defense. The Cowboys front office just needs to be smart in doing so.

The Eagles spend a total of 57 mil/yr on Smith and Brown. Last time I checked...they won the Superbowl just two seasons ago. Offense moving back and defense moving up? Not buying that plan. It's the same plan they had when they released Owens...Bryant...and Cooper. All three times the receiver group took a hit the following season. I would prefer to not have Prescott forcing the ball to Lamb when he shouldn't be. I would also prefer to avoid a repeat of the 2022 playoffs at San Francisco.

You can sign Pickens AND improve the defense. It's a false dilemma and a false choice where Pickens is concerned. You have a DC who is unproven. You have a defense coming off a historically bad season. The offense remains THE best way you can do anything in the playoffs.

Why would they not free up money? Prescott restructured in March of 2025...saving about 37 million.

so Pickens vs slim picken's

Aubrey, Pickens, Williams, Clowney are starters. If not extended will need to be replaced along with 6 Defensive players.
Aubrey and Pickens will be extended. I’d like to keep Javonte and Clowney but once again losing them doesn’t scare me.

I've said it all along. What's the plan if Pickens leaves and Lamb or Flournoy gets hurt?

The Cowboys won't draft a WR high enough to fill Pickens shoes.
I think if Pickens was traded or left in free agency, we'd draft a receiver with one of our first-round picks. I doubt we see Flournoy as a No. 2 at this point. He had some good games/moments, but that's a little more faith than I think the team will put in him without at least bringing in a cheap vet.

I'm not a fan of losing Javonte. This team has shown that it can be a poor judge of cheap backs. It just got lucky with that one.
