Dolphins have had trade talks regarding safety Minkah Fitzpatrick

He is 29 years old. Last June 30th he was part of a trade that sent Fitzpatrick and a 5th from Pittsburgh to Miami for Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith and 7th.

Fitzpatrick signed a revised two year contract with the Miami Dolphins on July 27, 2025 after being traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fitzpatrick received a $16.245 million signing bonus. Three void years were added to the contract for salary cap purposes.

I would think almost anyone is available, just depends on cost.
Achane is a back I think would flourish even more in a competent offense. Not the biggest guy, but give him some space and he will be gone

the problem with this is "keeping" Pickens and Williams. If we invest that kind of money in our offense, we will have to be very careful where we spend on defense vs. drafting defensive help. I know we can't afford to wait too late, but I would really like to draft 1st then add a FA or two. Our goal in year 1 of CP as DC, should be to get into the teens as far as rankings are concerned.

What does a 2nd rounder get you? Sam Williams? Kelvin Joseph?

Fans, and even NFL teams, tend to overrate the potential of draft picks and underrate proven players. If our second round rookie played at a Fitzpatrick level, how happy would you be? How likely is it that a second round rookie plays at a Fitzpatrick level?

At 29, how many more years will he play? 2nd round contracts are considerably smaller too.

I'm not opposed to getting him. But a 2nd plus his deal is much too expensive for my taste.
