I'd offer a second for him no problem. Dallas doesn't have a second, so we'd have to offer Miami #20 and they'd have to throw us a sweetener.

Fitzpatrick is a top-shelf NFL deep safety and probably has 3 good years minimum in the tank. Who are you drafting in the 2nd, or even at #20, who's going to give you 3 seasons of Pro Bowl level safety play.

Fans, and even NFL teams, tend to overrate the potential of draft picks and underrate proven players. If our second round rookie played at a Fitzpatrick level, how happy would you be? How likely is it that a second round rookie plays at a Fitzpatrick level?

To quote Peter Griffin from Family Guy: "A boat's a boat, but a mystery box could be anything. It could even be a boat!".

This year a 2nd rounder gets you a good receiver.

Yeah, but if he's outright released he'll go to his best option literally has more choices He wanna pick someone that's already playoff caliber he's leaving Miami He didn't get anywhere in Pittsburgh I mean he might want had his last stop be somewhere might get to a Super Bowl..

Some teams will try to get him before he's released if it's a good enough deal because they don't want to be bidding for his services...

I would trade next year’s third-round pick, but that’s all.

Will he fix our safety issues? Yes, he will, and I think a third-round pick plus his contract is worth it.

Safety is a big part of Parker’s defense. I’m sure they will consider the importance of having Fitzpatrick here in Dallas. But not for a 1st or 2nd round draft pick.

He is 29 years old. Last June 30th he was part of a trade that sent Fitzpatrick and a 5th from Pittsburgh to Miami for Jalen Ramsey, Jonnu Smith and 7th.

Fitzpatrick signed a revised two year contract with the Miami Dolphins on July 27, 2025 after being traded from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Fitzpatrick received a $16.245 million signing bonus. Three void years were added to the contract for salary cap purposes.

I'm not opposed to getting him. But a 2nd plus his deal is much too expensive for my taste.

You could go get Coby Bryant for less money. They are close in age and he’s projected to get 14 mil and you keep your picks

Stay away from former first rounders. Whatever happened to actually scouting hidden gems? This FO has an obsession with former first rounders thinking they're a bargain when they hit the open market. I personally think they're overvalued otherwise they wouldn't be available.

One thing to consider in this discussion:
A draft pick will make a lot less than Fitzpatrick.
