Cowboys Defensive Consistency Relies On Fixing the Secondary

just having a top D line does not make a championship Defense
The Fearsome foursome and the Purple People Eaters never got a ring
if your back seven is not very good, the DL is wasted
Absolutely.

Thing is, the best way to form a champ D is to form a dominant front 4/5. The others positions can then be just solid.

Jerry goes about it the opposite way, and not only does it not work, it has never worked.

Yup. Flus had no chance here. I don't know him well enough to like him or not, it's just easy to see that our primary problem on D was lack of talent.
So the fact that eberpuss wouldn’t adapt his scheme to the players he had, would abandon what was working, and never made any adjustments matter?

Very little. There were no adjustments to be made, as we simply didn't have starter quality players. He did what he had to do, which was play zone, as the players were so bad all he could do was try to get them to stay in their area.

Health is a big factor why some of the guys didn't play as well as they normally could have. I think that's where it starts with bland and revel hopefully being in better health than last year. Of course they need to continue adding talent and make the QB get rid of the ball quickly or take a sack.

Not when you start examining teams that are in the super bowl. I go by models of success. What are you going by?
New England Patriots have won two Super Bowls because of their backfield, not their defensive line, and this season almost 3
Ty law Gonzalez, and I can give you many more specific names
Cowboys Byron Jones, went too deep, screwed the play up.
If he did his job, we would’ve beat the Packers and who knows what would’ve happened next. And we had a great defensive line, but it was the backfield that made the difference.
It’s always about the back end.

Patriots, beating the greatest show on turf, that was all backfield
Patriot beating Seattle at the end of the game with Butler interception Wilson
Cowboys brown intercepting the Steelers. To win the game backfield.
Again, this is just my opinion, I’d rather have a solid backfield and a mediocre defensive line than ,vice versa

I guess will never know because he didn’t try much. But you have to admit, there were a few times that he did things a little differently and it was working and he completely abandoned it. I don’t remember which game but he had like 5 blitzes in the first 15 plays or something, and was effective, but then I think he only had one blitz the rest of the game.

Id call KC and offer 12 for McDuffie and pick 40

That would 700 points. The 26th pick in the draft. Gardner has a similar resume to McDuffie and was traded for two 1'st

Id see if KC bites on that

I would do that in a heartbeat. But KC already picking at 9 makes things interesting. The talk around here is Love. If there is a really good front 7 player the Chiefs like still on the board at 12 they might bite.

The biggest question is whats Duffie valued at? Him and Sauce are the same age and both have two All Pro's under there belt. Sauce went for two 1sts. 12 for 40 is 700 points, which the value of the 26th overall pick. Id offer that and see if they bite. They just might. McDuffie is very good, but Sauce is definitely better

Not even true. NE controlled the LOS w/ their D front. The backfield is irrelevant if your front 4/5 can't get pressure.

Byron screwed up, but Aaron should've been sacked long before that.

I don't think it was about trying. I don't think he ever had a chance here.

Can't blitz the whole game. Doesn't work that way.

The de and cb situation is not good right now. But at least they're better than the lber situation lol

this team needs a pass rush…BADLY

The secondary can be upgraded and needs one but a pass rush is the first thing we need

Of course you can’t blitz the whole game but he went from one extreme to the other. Besides, it’s his job to do whatever he can to make the defense better. If something isn’t working, you try something else. If that doesn’t work, try again. You didn’t lose anything since you sucked anyways. If he’s uninterested in trying to make the D better, then he’s a thief stealing a salary. That or just incompetent or lazy

Again, it’s an opinion, and I respect yours. But I disagree.
