Stephen admits this offseason is all about the defense

Wow…it almost seems as though Stephen Jones lacks experience or talent as a football executive. Hmmmm….

Surely our Executive VP of everything Jerry doesn’t want in his title is NOT in this job ONLY because he’s Jerry son. Surely the guy most responsible for managing the all important salary cap is not an incompetent lazy boob, no other team in this league would hire as a hot dog vendor.

Surely….
Just more examples how we are more concerned with appealing to the public interest and hyping our fans hope than actually a strategy which most teams keep confidential letting their actions speak for themselves.

Jethro & Son must be really lousy at poker cause they always shows their hands for all to see.

As a front office executive, you should never talk this way to the media. Even if it is obvious.

And you should never approach the draft that way.
.......thats only if they were going to go through with that plan.

OL and TE in the 1st round is the real intention.

Once again, this FO playing "Rockem Sockem Robots" while the rest of the league playing "Candyland".

I am not sticking up for Stephen at all, and I agree that it is stupid to disclose your offseason plans before it even starts.

But his comments also fall under the "obvious" category. Everybody knows Dallas needs to upgrade the defense.

What he said is no worse than if the Bills or Patriots said they aren't in the market for a QB. Well no kidding.

:hammer:

See my post above.

They’re off to a great start so far.
The same thing was said last season.

Can we at least wait until FA starts before giving this FO credit for anything?

If they dont sign an actual FA and not some JAG in the first week I may start believing again.

Them signing a tier 3 guy in week 1 doesnt make me feel good.

As Risen said, they can't see to handle both, by the time we get one side good the other will suck, I mean Stephen probably thinks about football less than most posters on here.

Hopefully this time is different, but with like Romo and Dak, it will be a stroke of luck. Would be cool to see a deep playoff run for the first time in decades.

We are talking about Stephen "the highest running back contract ever is the floor" Jones for a RB that was holding out and had admittedly not the greatest work ethic even if he was super talented.

I tell anyone with even a passing interest in the Cowboys that Stephen Jones is the worst thing to happen to the Cowboys in the last 10-12 years. Not only is he worthless, he's destructive to the team.

They have no foresight. They only react to the here and now. In their mind since the offense played well last season it will just keep doing that for many years to come. The needs are nothing.

Watch the offense atrophy in their effort to improve the defense. Both are almost certain to occur.
