Dak tells Pickens to bet on himself

Betting on himself would be signing now and then cashing in again in 3 years, imo.

All that Pickens can do on the tag is lose leverage. Sign your ~4x$150m deal now and then get your extension after year three or go UFA at age 29 to get your second $150m+ deal.
Dak played on 2 tags which is why we are stuck with the worst QB contract in the NFL. We had to sign him for what he wanted or he could have walked for nothing. Thats the corner Jerry backed himself into.

There is no 4x$150m deal

The Cowboys have no interest in a long term deal. They aren’t even attempting it. When the two met, it wasn’t even discussed.

Well yes the Cowboys being stupid is also a part of the equation lol.

I just don't really think playing on the tag is the same as betting on yourself.

No, that's the leverage that every good player in the NFL gets if they want it.

Dak's contract was a good value the second he signed it, relative to what other QBs were signing for.

Bill Belichick said that getting the QB deals done efficiently is so important because it sets the tone for the rest of your team....He had Brady who typically made team friendly deals which set the expectation in the rest of the locker room, and when players didnt conform he often traded them. On the flip side the Cowboys botched the Dak negotiations time and time again and now Dak (not saying its right or wrong...honestly I point the finger more at Jerry than anything) is passing on the same advice that helped him but has hurt the Cowboys to other players on the roster.

Is it that they don't want it period, or just not right now??? If not by the way you're saying it, trade him!!!!!!!!!!

This is probably the one topic on which Dak is qualified to speak - how to drain the lifeblood from a helpless organization.
Well uhhh Uhhhh hmmmmm we feel that we're paying him a hhhhh ahuummmmmm all that money, he's going to win us a superbowl, i'd uhhh and let me say this, I'd be shocked if he didn't Uhhhh hmmmmm get us a superbowl! lol

The price is dropping, what happens if he is not traded before the draft and Cowboys are on clock having taken a Corner/Safety with pick 12. I do wonder if they might offer #20 to Raiders.
well what about this, what about it all comes to (since you mentioned during the draft) during the draft who's on the board at the moment. If nobody is worth it at those pics, can the phones heat up????

Yes, a second round pick is more likely with something else
if they would take that great, but we don't have one, I know a way we could get one (trade aubrey!)

You have no idea if anything was truly attempted, or even discussed.
Only rumors of some reporters trying to justify their jobs.
Jerry said it himself in a bus interview. Didn’t you watch those?

Well, certainly not right now. He’ll play on the tag or be traded.
