In year 2, what do you need to see from our Head Coach?

Based on NFL history, especially in the modern age, coaches who take a team to a Super Bowl do so within the first five years, so I believe in giving a coach that long unless he does not show improvement. That improvement to me needs to include making the playoffs this year.

Now, I don't believe failure to make the playoffs is all on the coach since I believe the front office is to blame the most for our failures over the last 30 years. But I also believe that a coach has to show the ability to overcome this front office and if he doesn't show that ability then we might as well move on to the next one and give him that chance.

And be competitive- if we lose then, okay.

But pooping your shorts and then slipping in it....that's hard to take into the entire offseason.

This is year 1. Last year Schotty had no say in who his DC was or how the DC operated including his staff. He was a HC in name only not function. This year he has about as much control as the Jonses will ever give up. I expect them to be better as a team but I doubt they can win more than a wildcard game in the post season.

It was good to see our HC bring in some guys that he didn't know anything about, some worked out, most didn't. We saw our HC bench his starting WRs a series due their issues that were detremintal to the team. We saw him make some questionable decisions during games. He's never been a head coach, but now he has a year under his belt.

So in your eyes what things did he do well, what areas does he need to improve in?? Please give your thoughts

I'm just telling you what my source said. I trust the source. Schotty is a fraud. He won't win in Dallas. There's a reason why he stopped getting HC interviews.

I have a pretty good source that told me he rubs a lot of coaches on his staff the wrong way and he's not the nice guy that everybody thinks he is. Take that for what it's worth.

Fine, that wasn't my point though and shotty did a decent job last year, plus has potential with the new DC and a strong returning offense to show improvement this year.

I want to see more discipline and accountability- would love to see him pull players for really bad penalties and set an example

Meh, he still won the job....you guys keep claiming this which is fine, but fact is shotty did what it took with the evaluation criteria to become the Cowboys HC - cant fault him.

I never said anything about it being the HCs fault. We all know that Jerry and Son make the calls. I still stand on what i said.

No it was not. Yes, they could have interviewed more. But he was not handed the job to be a puppet.

You don't know that to be true any more than the rest of us.

Without either Jerry or Schnotty specifically saying it happened that way, you have no way of proving that either.

I get it, though. We all want to believe Jerry is finally starting to change the way he operates, but you have ask something important. McCarthy was an experienced, somewhat proven HC, and Jerry didn't allow him to do squat. Why would Jerry suddenly hand the reigns over to a HC with 1 season of HC experience under his belt? It makes no sense. Schnotty can be trusted more than MM, a super bowl winning HC? I'm not believing it.
