Mick Shots: Draft Talk and other tidbits

Their 30 visits match up with 6 and 39.
How so?
That is what you want it to be.

12 & 20 is better than 6 & 39 IMO.

As I said, players will fall.
A blue chip player will be there at #12. And a very good player that may turn into a blue chip player will be there at #20

A blue chip player at #6 then a depth type player that contribute, and can turn into a starter at #39. We know how much bad luck they have with 2nd round picks.
Though I would like to get a 2nd round pick. While keeping both 1st.

Then 1st round, 2 picks, and a 2nd and 3rd, and even a 4th round pick. Helps this team overall for the long run far better than #6, #39, #92.

This defense is not 1 elite player away.
Unless you truly thing what they done in FA on defense makes them top 15, then an elite player at #6 makes them top 10.
I do not see that.

How so? Look at the guys they have brought in and where they are rated. It has nothing to do with me. It's simple research.

One can research it all they want. It is pure speculation based on how fan feels.
Why would any company waste time with interviewing a long line of candidates they either have no intention of or no chance of hiring?

If a QB is there at 12. A QB needy team may make the trade.
Depends on how teams may value Ty Simpson.
Steelers, Jets, Browns. I would say Cardinals, but they do not have another 1st round pick after they pick 3rd, who may take a QB then.
Yes that’s the wildcard! Some say he might fall out of 1 but you don’t know.

And once again, as you say, due diligence.
All teams do this.
Some of those players will drop. And if and when they do. A team needs to know about that player since the may have a chance to draft him.

What is so hard to understand about that concept.

The FO is not going to say, well we have no chance at him, so let’s not even scout him. But player X may be there at #55 so let’s bring him in instead.

All teams do this? Let's start with the Rams. Who are in the 13 spot. Show me the list of top 8 players that they are bringing in on 30 visits.

Why should I care what the Rams do. Nor why should I look up who they brought in.
You are the one overly concerned about it.

I stand by what I say. It all means nothing.

Need an absolute home run edge and offball linebacker as plug and play starters and big impact rookie performers.

Anything less than that and the defense will struggle again.

To have to depend on this roster building strategy without having supplemented the team with at least one good to excellent FA edge and offball linebacker before the draft is stupidity. If you want to seriously compete for trophies that is.

Thats called real talk.

Trading down more likely to happen than trading up.

What Jalen Thomson said.
"I mean, I met P.J. (Locke), excited to line up with him," Thompson begins his rolodex of Cowboys defensive backs after spending his seven NFL seasons all with the Cardinals (2019-25). "Met DaRon, excited to line up with him. Hook (Malik Hooker). They got pieces all over, and these are guys who have been doing it in the league for a while, and are vets at the game and are pro's pros. So yeah, ready to get it going with those guys, bro. Those are elite players."

Draft Guide Available
The 2026 Dallas Cowboys Draft Guide is now available online here at DallasCowboys.com, as well as in Cowboys Pro Shops and regional retail outlets such as Walmart, Albertsons and Walgreens, or just by clicking on dallascowboys.com/star.

the Cowboys have issued the franchise tag now 12 times with this current one to wide receiver George Pickens at $27.3 million for a wide receiver. Back in 2002, offensive tackle Flozell Adams became the first Cowboys player issued a franchise tag, and that was worth, $4.9 million. How times have changed.
I have said again and again trading down is going to be very difficult; we will need to get very lucky. Or just one dumb GM besides ours...

Well you should care because you said all the teams do this, and that is not true.

I'm convinced Jerry us going into this draft thinking quantity over quality.

I don't agree with the strategy, but that's why I make $10 an hour at Burger King.
Which is the wrong to do Quality is way better then quantity
