Mick Shots: Draft Talk and other tidbits

Iike trade them both to the browns for #6?
Right
For 6 and 39.
That would be a stupid Jerry thing to do.

Could have had 4 1st round draft picks. And trade 3 away and Mkcah for one 1st round pick, and Q. Williams and Clark. For who with that 1st round pick. Who will be that player to get us to the SB. Not a one of them.
But 4 1st round picks in 2 years. Yes they would.

Actually the math and the players available check out well for both teams.

The Jerry Jones draft policy:

Never draft a quarterback capable of making it off the practice squad unless your starter has one foot out the door.

Drafting an injured player is always a bargain. They would be worth far more if completely healthy.....because they would be completely healthy.

Target a specific position and if your preferred player is taken, immediately draft the next at that position, regardless of how much further they are down the list.

WRs are special, angelic, beautiful playmakers. RBs are the scum of the earth.

When the camera is rolling in the war room, all eyes must be on Jerry......who will be on the phone whether or not someone is actually on the line.

All selections must be openly celebrated, and Jerry must be heartily congratulated by each member of the staff as if he had just invented the cure for ACL injuries.

Many on here want to follow #3 just because the D was so awful last season.

Dane Brugler was on the Ticket yesterday and said trading down will be tough. Many teams aren't going to give up a 2 or draft capital to move up with the talent in this draft. Said they are much more likely to package to move up and 6 is a good spot but we will see. I know it sounds cool to say "move down and pick up picks" but overall it takes two to tango and people love their picks.
12 and 20 plus a fifth for 6 and 39 with Cleveland is the right move

No it is not.
Someone started this and keeps reposting it in every thread. Now seems everyone wants to do this.
Do not give a way that 2nd 1st round pick. The defense needs more than that.

There aren't 20 1st round graded players. There are a lot more 2nd round graded players. You get a better player at 6 and still get a 2nd round player at 39.

Keep pushing it. We will see what happens. Never know with this FO.

I'm convinced Jerry us going into this draft thinking quantity over quality.

I don't agree with the strategy, but that's why I make $10 an hour at Burger King.
Not true you're making wholesale assumptions over what player they're gonna get just because they might move down once or twice They may not move down but the likelihood is they would move down more than move up and I agree that's what it should be but maybe 3 to 4 spots up or three to 4 spots down How do you figure The last time I remember the Cowboys do this they went from 10 to 12 picked up a third rounder got Parsons and Osset in the same draft because of a 2 spots they moved down you're saying that wasn't quality are you saying that that was more for quantity I think that you're missing the point you don't want to reach so if your player is still within reach and you can move down and still get them and pick up more picks, I don't see the problem here..

Yes every team makes mistakes but because they didn't move down and around they ended up with guys like Mazi and Taco because they reached for position they also ended up with guys like Schoonmaker and what not I mean it would've been better if they had moved down and still got these players but way later and picked up more picks..

There are a few players in this draft the Cowboys are targeting that are considered tweeners they might not be worth the 12 pick but they could be worth the 15th pick and it would be better if you can still get him by moving down same thing at 20 It might be a middle linebacker they call an off the ball linebacker they might a little too rich at 20 if you can move down five spots pick up a second round pick then how is that a bad thing it just depends on who they pick and how they go about it...

Or not in any way just simply gonna give away first round picks to get more picks they will have a strategy I know it doesn't seem like it sometimes but they definitely have a room full of experts From the scouting department to Wilma Clay the new coaching staff on defense Brian Schottenheimer they will all have input and they will figure out what they want and who they want and where they're gonna pick and then they'll watch the board move and they'll try to make the right decisions but it's not always possible you're gonna make mistakes..

Again it worked out in the Parsons trade they only moved down two spots and made the trade with the Eagles which is odd and then picked up OSA I mean that was a win on both levels,,

Not a front office in any sport but let's stick to football that doesn't make mistakes I don't care if you're at the top of the first round or at the bottom People make mistakes all over the draft they also let guys slip and that's how Tom Brady and Brock Purdy Or you can find players late because somebody made mistakes at the top..

Poll You'll never know what this front office you could say that pretty much about all teams.. Cowboys have generally been pretty good drafting if they don't reach for position you can still only look for defense and go BPA it doesn't have to be a pure BPA but yes they will make mistakes and so will the whole entire league..

I mean I have to keep saying this but just as an example why do cowboys get blasted for giving up 4th rounder for Trey Lance or whatever he was giving up but nobody remembers that three first were given by San Francisco san Francisco has made multiple mistakes both in free agency signing their own players or in the draft this supposed to be a organization and yet they make mistakes all the time..

Want to point that out because people around here want to blast Jerry and Steven and not that I like them or like to support them but I like to be the voice of reason sometimes and I watch the league they they all make mistakes But the Cowboys generally have been pretty good at drafting they've had two really bad drafts where they look like they reached but other than that they're pretty consistent they find players that both they need and that can start...

Let's hope they have a strategic plan for moving all around the draft A few places up a few places down pick up more draft pick but get the guys that they actually want and not reach..

IMO a team would need to give us a 3rd also, or a high pick in 2027. The price to pay to get 2 first round picks in a trade.

Right.
They can get 2 very good players by staying at 12 and 20. Or a slight trade down or 2, they can comedy with 5 very good players. And as aunt, make this defense good for years.

one single player at 6 is not going to transform this defense into a SB contending defense. Even if the get good players at 39 and 92.
3 will still not be as good overall as 5 for what is needed to make the quickest improvement.

I would love to get Styles. But I think some of these players sill slip as usual, and one of these so called difference makers will be there at 12.
I guess some wanting to be so right, they chose not the remember Micah slipping, and Lamb as well.

Not only slip but the Cowboys already tipped their hand moved down two places picked up OSA, So yeah, they people forget that that can't happen as long as they don't go crazy trading way down or going too far up like you said within reason, they should be open to moving around a lot in this draft...
