Will Anderson signs a 3 year/$150 extension with the Texans

When the salary cap continjed to grow what do you guys expect the salaries to get cheaper? That’s the Stephen Jones way of thinking. Pure stupidity.
For now eventually it will need to be addressed the salary cap will not continue to rise into perpetuity. When rookie contracts especially QB contracts were wrecking salary caps a new scale for rookies was made, so to will new rules need to be made for salaries NFL-wide because eventually the salary cap will contract.

It’s going to get to the point where you play them under rookie contract and re draft replacements . Pickens is a WR still what’s he going to want in order to stay .

You can’t say WR is not important. Jan & Feb was the time to deal with him
I will re- emphasize your first paragraph that I found very convincing.

ANY second contract to any position from now on is going to strongly effect overall team structure planning based on cap impact imo.

To an extent that is already the nature of the salary cap beast but I think Smith Ngiba's 40 plus per AAV and now Allen's 50 just further proves that point.

I've long been a guy to say just don't sweat the cap and go ahead and write the contract in such a way so as it can be manipulated favorably. I am having a hard time still seeing it that way with all these positions making quarterback money now.

And historically, these Cowboys sure have some poorly written second contracts I tell ya.
smh

Holy smokes....he is a good one though!

This is another example of Jerry being too slow

Quennin is going to need an extension and while he is certainly not Will Anderson, his price just went up

Could have extended him a month ago and restructured to give us another $10-12m in free agency, but instead we just sat out l, content with our one average safety free agent.

This is what I mean when I say that some fans are mad at players getting paid, period. They try to use the ol' "it's cuz the salary cap" excuse but this isn't even our salary cap being abused here and they're mad. Thanks for proving the point, Beaker Streaker. Lol.
They are just woefully out of touch with the state of the league and have been since the 90’s

I've said it before, Jerry gets full credit for not signing that schmuck who goes AWOL in big games.

Anything that brought Quinnen "Snacks" Williams to my team is a homerun.
Why aren’t they working on an extension?

Dak is still the highest paid quarterback though. The Jones Boys got this.

Wait, what? I thought this was a thread about a Texan defensive player getting paid? What does Dak have to do with it?

Wait a few years and these will be bargains. That’s just the way it works. NFL revenue just keeps growing and players get nearly half the revenue
You need to invest in a diamond and tattoo shop.

When the nfl loses its case trying to do network deals with 20 different distributors while using its broadcast exemption…these mega huge salaries might be really bad.
Pass rushers are really important but not QB money.

With 2 years left on his deal the AAV looks outrageous, but really it's not bad at all. Houston has control over him for the next 5 years and the extension part of this doesn't kick in until 2028 where the cap may explode another 15-20% by then.

Pickens is a worry he could hold out but eventually I guess he has to show up . Keep the franchise tag on him see how 26 goes then possibly draft a receiver in 27
