What grade would you give the front office for the off-season so far?

C - They’ve made a couple of solid moves, and to their credit, they did make a push for linebacker help...even if they couldn’t get those deals across the finish line (you have to wonder how the Jones boys feel watching players choose the Raiders instead).

I’ll also give them credit for letting the coaching staff, i.e. Shotty, choose his own defensive coordinator. Going with a young, up-and-coming coach instead of a recycled name is a positive step. As others have also stated, the draft and post-draft window (trades, late free-agent signings) could still move this grade up or down.

That said, it still feels like more of the same. Safe signings. Short-term deals. Nothing remotely outside the box. Jerry loves to talk about writing big checks and going “all in,” but we haven’t actually seen it. Where are the bold moves...you know....the kind that could push this team over the top?

<<< B- >>> ... I'm actually surprised they got this busy making moves in such. Fixing contracts, signing contracts, outsourcing players ..etc.

I know many are on the fence with certain players, but will know more as Camp 26' approaches.

Seems like they are letting Parker give some acclamation in the process too. I do hope they re-sign Clowney at some point.

Changing out the DC will be the biggest move no matter who we add in the draft or FA. So that boosts the grade IMO…I’m still mad they didn’t fire flus several games in. It was obviously an embarrassment.
.....yep, EFFEN Jerry, that's on him. By the 6th game Eberjoke should have been shafted.

What waste of season for offense too.

I disagree that the FO being “in the mix” for acquiring a player in FA is worthy of any credit.

The FO has told us year after year after year that “this year is going to be different”. The only way to judge that is by what they do, not what they say they “tried” to do.

In pro sports - especially in the front office - you receive credit for results not intentions.
Yes but this year their top 2 LB candidates they were in the mix money wise but lost out for various reasons. I am fine with that if you have your heart set on a corvette but all that is left is a Mustang why settle. They were in in no-win if they did not get Dean and the other guy (his name escapes me). If they threw money ate their 3rd, 4th or 5th choice they would have been excoriated for "overpaying". I am all for letting the draft play out and see where things fall post draft for FA.

Currently 8 think Front Office has done very well
lets see
Rocky
Rambo
Ranching
Jazz
Tim
who else?
Ranching is being traded to the San Jose Grapplers. If he passes the urine alcohol analysis he's in like Flint.

Just checking in with Cowboys fans on grading our front office so far in this 2026 off-season.

Obviously it’s not over. We still have the draft and maybe more trades. What letter grade would you give based on what the FO has done so far? If you can, say what you’ve liked and not liked.

I settled on a C (minus). They have done some good things. Just not nearly enough.

What I like:
  • The hiring of DC Christian Parker (we hope) looks like a huge help.
  • I liked the Rashon Gary trade for the most part, although I don’t think he solves our pass rush deficit alone.
  • I like the Jalen Thompson FA signing. He should be an instant upgrade for the back end of the secondary. He is a rare 3 yr FA signing.
  • The Cobie Durant signing should be a help although it was interesting he just got a typical one yr prove it deal.
What is still sorely lacking:
  • We desperately need major help at LB. I expect we will get one or two in the draft. But are rookies that we plug and play going to be enough to make us playoff worthy?
  • I still think we need to sign a vet LB who can serve as a stop gap until some of the younger guys can step up.
  • We still lack enough talent in the pass rush.
  • I think we need help at LT and TE too. Not everything can get fixed in the draft.
I hope I’m dead wrong but so far this 2026 off-season looks eerily similar to what we’ve seen year after year from our FO - not taking enough chances to get better.

Maybe the FO makes a miracle finish to this off-season? I seriously doubt it.
Nothing has made me look up from me cup of tea and biscuits.
The daily drivel we hear is like 30 past offseasons.

I certainly agree with everyone who gave this offseason a C and I'm beginning to wonder if this version of our FO didn't deserve a bit more. In view of where this thing started out and where we are now, I'm actually surprised at my feeling that maybe they deserve more. There is certainly more time to better realize where we are now and what can be done to take things even further along. Let's cling to hope that CP turns out to be exactly the blessing that we believe he might be. Amen, my fine friends!

Meh. C at best. Doesn't take a genius to realize the one thing the Cowboys need this offseason is a better defense. We'll see what type of results this new Defense produces. If it does the same thing that happened when DQ took over for the same reasons, I'll say mission success.

How a redundant post yesterday on this very subject needed a poll.. Very special.... Absolutely couldn't make it through a day without having to see complaints about the front office even fried months before the season starts I think they've put a Super Bowl team out that's right let's just call it like it is I knew I was in trouble this is at minimum An NFCG appearance team let me see how many people I trigger now... They will bust the drought this year...

That sounds as ridiculous as judging this team's roster in offseason with 5 months ahead that means there's a lot more ahead than has time gone by so far The draft is next week we haven't gone through a draft finished picking some free agents and getting ready for actual training camp..

And like I said yesterday and I will continue to say this was way too soon Premature complaints before we can talk about it in August when we'll have the real picture the big picture the full complete picture of what they did or didn't do...
