We don't sign first round picks after 3 years. Zeke held out and forced it.His 1st 3 years were subpar compared to MP. Why didnt we sign Parsons after year 3 btw
The fact that the Cowboys have not had a winning season since Dak signed his historic deal may make it a harbinger of NFL QB deals going forward. Better quarterbacks may sign for more guaranteed compensation, but the $60 million AAV could very well stand as “a bridge too far”.Just the tip of the iceberg... fans have to remember that, according to the CBA, players get 48% of league-wide revenues. In other words...it's a reflection of how much the owners are making.
BTW......I'm expecting Stoud, Caleb and Mayes to break Dak's $60M level, especially Caleb and Mayes
- 48% Guaranteed: Starting in 2021, players are guaranteed at least 48% of the league's overall revenue.
- Media Kicker (Up to 48.8%): With the shift to a 17-game season, the players' share can increase to as much as 48.8% based on the growth of new television broadcasting deals.
Quite a bit.Wonder what the Eagles offer Carter now.
A lot of his regression stems from his horrible Oline. Some teams have defenses that are better than their offenses, so they pour their resources into defense and try to be middle of the road on offense. We are the exact opposite. If Houston’s QB hadn’t regressed so much from his rookie season, they might be building around him instead.
One of those two seasons he was injured. Not enough of a sample size to qualify your argument. Especially with the way this team is run.The fact that the Cowboys have not had a winning season since Dak signed his historic deal may make it a harbinger of NFL QB deals going forward. And since Dak signed his deal the two QB1s that won Super Bowls are not paid $60 million per year and are also not considered future Hall of Famers. It’s been 19 months Prescott has held the top spot. I suspect it will be many, many more.
Yes. The way the “team is run”. As in, don’t pay your quarterback $60 million per year. One of those two seasons he was injured. Not enough of a sample size to qualify your argument. Especially with the way this team is run.
I will never argue that Dak was overpaid. But to make it seem, not you necessarily, but comparing him to Rush or acting like he’s a bottom 10 QB isn’t reality.Yes. The way the “team is run”. As in, don’t pay your quarterback $60 million per year.
Dak’s a top ten quarterback. So is Jackson. So is Allen. So is Burrow. Apparently the key to winning a Super Bowl must lay elsewhere.I will never argue that Dak was overpaid. But to make it seem, not you necessarily, but comparing him to Rush or acting like he’s a bottom 10 QB isn’t reality.
Mahomes isn’t top 10? Was Brady not? You know, the guys who have won the most super bowls the last 20 years.Dak’s a top ten quarterback. So is Jackson. So is Allen. So is Burrow. Apparently the key to winning a Super Bowl must lay elsewhere.
Is Dak even in the same universe as Mahomes and Brady? I don’t believe Darnold and Hurts are. Dak is better than Hurts and Darnold, too. That doesn’t mean he can win a Super Bowl like two of the best QBs to ever play in the NFL.Mahomes isn’t top 10? Was Brady not? You know, the guys who have won the most super bowls the last 20 years.
This is absolutely true, and IMO the QB position has become extremely overrated. I'd pay a QB top money if he is a true outlier at the position, but for 95% of guys I'd happily churn the position and trade a young QB for a draft haul rather than pay them $55m+ per season. With rule changes to the modern game playing QB is easier than ever (in ways)....defenders are limited in how they can hit you, they can't grab receivers pretty much at all, defenseless receiver rules give the QB less to worry about, etc. The discount veteran at half the price QB to keep the rest of your team intact is typically the way to go.Dak’s a top ten quarterback. Don't you find it interesting that Houston signed their Pro Bowl DE before their QB's rookie contract expires? It's funny how a professional franchise goes about it's business....things that make you go hmmmmmmThe fact that the Cowboys have not had a winning season since Dak signed his historic deal may make it a harbinger of NFL QB deals going forward. I wasn’t comparing them to Dak. Only an idiot would do that. It was mentioned that top ten QBs don’t win super bowls. I beg to differ. Is Dak even in the same universe as Mahomes and Brady? Dak’s problem is the Cowboys are not in the same universe as the Chiefs and Patriots. If you’re going to pay your QB $60 million per year in the salary cap era you better know what the hell you’re doing. Jerry, doesn’t.
Have you seen all the super bowls the bottom ten QBs have won like Mahomes and Brady? Yep, we should be looking for QBs as bad as them, definitely not top 10 QBs.This is absolutely true, and IMO the QB position has become extremely overrated. I think QBs are getting as much as they are these days because they help sell merch and season tickets....

Holy smokes....he is a good one though!
Top ten quarterbacks also lose them. And no $60 million per year quarterback has ever won one.I wasn’t comparing them to Dak. Only an idiot would do that. It was mentioned that top ten QBs don’t win super bowls. I beg to differ.
