Stephen: We will not have contract talks with Pickens

He has the same agent as Parsons. You know he is out there now aggressively pursuing a trade. George stated early on he didn’t want to play on tag.
Not true at all.......
His only comment regarding the tag was a wait-and-see approach and control what he can control.

That’s not how I recall it. It was said early on like last year when speculations begin emerging we’d place him on tag.

That’s how it was reported anyway in local papers where I received the info, that he wouldn't be happy with FT.

Never said he 'didnt want to play on the tag'. I'm sure he would prefer the security of a term deal but as Dak and Lamb have told him......be patient, the money is coming.

As of late April 2026, Dallas Cowboys wide receiver George Pickens has expressed a desire to remain with the team but acknowledged his limited control over contract negotiations after a breakout 2025 season.

Pickens' Stance on the Tag
  • "I can just wait on them": Regarding the possibility of being tagged, Pickens indicated a "wait and see" approach, telling reporters in February 2026, "I can just wait on them, that's all I can do, and chill with the guys".
  • Desire to Stay: Pickens has expressed interest in staying in Dallas, stating, "I would love to [stay in Dallas], but when you can't control it, you kind of just hope for the best"

Jerry is still butthurt with Mulugheta.
Yes, but I really don't blame him. He sounds like a terrible agent to have to deal with. I think they did Parsons a favor. They could of made him play on the tag. I don't think having Pickens play on the tag is bad either. If we signed him to 42 million a year for the next three that also would be received negatively. I wouldn't be surprised if they made an offer for him before JSN and Mulugheta said no we will wait till after the JSN contract. I myself would be frustrated I couldn't buy something till the price goes up. Now Pickens either plays for 60 million for 2 years or gets nothing. If players don't like it the players association needs to work on removing the Tag. Plus lets be honest. Dak maybe has two years left himself.

Pitt wanted him gone.

Talented player, but kills a locker room.

They let him walk for nothing.
They got a pick for him, that's not nothing. Nobody forced Jerry to trade for him, and if this was the end game after 1 Year of GP, did ownership really think we'd win a Super Bowl with the WR?

Right but tagging him telling him and his agent come back next off season doesn’t leave much and if you hold out you don’t get paid . Doesn’t an owner have any leverage if Seattle wants to go into the 40’s that’s their problem
Do not forget that GP can hold out until Week 10 and sign his tag then. If he does this, he gets paid and can hit FA in '27 again...wash, rinse, repeat

I hope we wouldn’t balk at a 3rd and late round. And call it a push , moving on.

Cause if he decides not to sign FT, we get nothing.

I agree. A 3rd and a late round wouldn't be terrible, and this is a good receiver draft. I like the receiver Benson out of USC. Maybe we can get him at 112.

So he can skip 10 games regular season still get paid the entire tag or does he lose 10 game checks ?

No way anyone is giving up a 1st for George. His baggage weighs him down.

I’d be pleased with a Day 2 pick.
He's also only 25 years old and coming off an all-pro season. The snag is the new contract not his issues in Pittsburgh . Nobody is trading for him unless they come to an agreement in principle with his agent on a new contract.

What I read is that he would forefit $11 Million. I would guess if he sits the entire year, we could still tag him 2x. Not a wise business decision on his end, though, and if I was him I'd play lights out and ask nicely to get traded to a team that isn't sans clue

Yeah I know Le'veon regretted it and has suggested not to do it. They only punish themselves because they can not make up the lost money. He be smart to play on it and play well. Three years from now WR will be paid even more.

Cruising around the NFL web outside of the Zone and the reaction is as you eoult expect

Fans of 28 teams mocking us for being stupid

Fans of the four NFC East teams laughing their butts off and toasting Jerry’s health.
If Cowboys’ fans do not understand the difference between the FO and their own perspective, then they never will. This is a marketing business, and they do extremely well without actually attempting to win significant playoff games.

Fans continue pouring money directly or indirectly (viewing Cowboys’ media product) into the Jones’s pockets. The Jones’s continue to make record profits. Where is the motivation to change habits? This negotiation will end with the Cowboys’ maximizing media coverage for the duration of the negotiation. That’s the goal-keep fans engaged/entertained enough to continue paying attention.

I see where Jones doesn’t want the position cap hit but he didn’t get careful in the QB cap hit area . Plus you’re in your 80’s do you want another SB win or not .

I don’t recall him being a problem in the Cowboys locker room.
