Love this selection. It’s not just about sacks; there were years when Haley only had 9 sacks but was disruptive throughout the season. This guy is violent.

Bottom line, you need various types in this new breed of 3-4. The lean, long pass rushers need to give way to the Gary’s and Overtons in short yardage and goal line.

This is not going to be the boring read and react defense. CP is going to be attacking in waves from all positions and keeping guys fresh. I can’t wait to see these young guys in preseason.

Sacks by committee is how you build a complimentary football team.

Houston and Williams competing to fit in. Barnham as an ILB who can also rush or blitz, competing with Overshown, Winters, James.

Downs and Thompson as versatile safeties. Locke and Hooker competing for time.
Bland, Revel, Durant, Butler, Stewart, Moore, Bridges, and others at CB.

The defense is not going to be elite in one year as more player acquisition will be needed, along with lots of learning….but this defense has a very real chance to get close to middle of the pack. 2-3 more stops per game can make all the difference if Schotty and the offense take another step.
