Drafted by Cowboys No. 137 pick - Alabama Edge Rusher LT Overton

Just watched this and changed my outlook on him a bit. Looks like he moves well for his size but is probably going to have to bulk up and play inside at this level. Still looks like a very nice value at 137.

Full name is Lawrence Taylor Overton.
Little-known fact, his parents actually tried to register his name as 'Left Tackle Overturned', but the staff at the records office misheard because his dad was talking through a mouthful of rare bison steak.

Comon' AC. Put him on the PS and see what 2027 brings.
A 4th round pick so he can go on the PS for his rookie season? Then why waste a 4th round pick for someone you intend to place on the practice squad? Why not use that 4th round pick on someone you plan on making the 53 man roster instead?

Some DL depth. I’m assuming the plan is to play him as a down lineman in the 3-4.

I question how much 3-4 we’ll actually play given how much nickel is used, but that’s besides the point.

We’ve added some speed to the defense in the back 7 that we were sorely lacking. And some smarter players, too.
It seems like most modern defenses have two traditional linemen in three point stances and two standup ends. Then there are two traditional linebackers, a box safety, corners, and deep safeties.

3-4 pick. So was our first round LB. And have a Pro Bowl safety who plays well up by the line and can play the slot. And trading Osa. Definitely aiming for some new prototypes for our new D Coordinator. At least he has a roster vision, something that lacks around Big D the last 30 years with the Jones Boys running it.

It's more like a 3/5 tech maybe takes OSA's place not really although you could play an OLB/ linebacker in this game but II think he more for the inside..
Seems like it. Competition for that second DE spot in the 3-4 fronts and can play inside next to Quinnen in some 4-3 sets. Not sure we see him as an OLB at all.

Overton will play up front with his hand in the dirt.

Lawrence will be a 3-4 OLB
I thought going into today that we needed more competition for that third spot on the line. Quinnen and Clark are obviously starters, but Ogbonnia and Bullard are questionable in that role so it's good to add competition.

Just realized Overton plays a lot like the guy Dallas signed not too long ago, Jonathan Bullard. Will probably be his long term replacement.

don’t mind the player, just not understanding the commitment to edge when we have already people on the roster and drafted 2 dudes already. their were ILB on the board with a bigger need IMO
I think while we got three edge players, only one of them (Lawrence) will actually be an edge. Barham is going to start out at inside linebacker and Overton will be an interior lineman or 3-4 DE.

It seems to me that we identified players like Barham and Overton as players who had less values at the position they were playing last year and more value at the positions they will play in our 3-4.
