Have the Cowboys improved enough to make the playoffs?

Lol very nice.

When I look at schedule it has potentially a bunch of losses:
Sea, SF, LAR, GB, Hou, Balt ,Jax & Phi all playoff teams from 2025

There’s 8. And that’s assuming we can go to Indy and win, Split against Phi while sweeping Wash & NY .

We can probably win a couple against those playoff teams but also likely to be upset.

10 wins going to be tough.
How the heck did a non-playoff team like Dallas get such a hard schedule? Meanwhile, watch the 49ers get another creampuff schedule.

This isn't even the most important addition............that would be CP and HIS new staff

Three words........talent, leadership and culture

Add to that:
Thompson
Winters
Eze in his second year
Overshown fully healthy
Reval fully healthy
Locke
Durrant

Barham and Moore

This is a top 10 defense if Reval and Bland play up to potential.

Top 5 if the rookies really contribute

While the draft was a good one I continue to believe the culture and current coach will prevent any serious playoff contention. The division also got a lot harder. I need to be shown this team can win tough games. As of now I believe they will disappoint once again and Shottenheimer will further be exposed as a non serious head coach.

Well, 2nd place schedule includes 3 2nd place teams which made playoffs including toughest division NFC West ( 3 playoff teams ).

And AFC South had 2 playoff teams too. Throw in Baltimore( 2nd place) tough at large AFC team too. Yes , very tough 2nd place schedule.

And that’s assuming either NY or Wash hasn’t improved as well as Indy, Tampa, and Tenn. And AZ always a tough out.

Our over under last year was 7 1/2 if I recall correctly.

This year I’d expect to be 9 or 9 1/2.

Just in time for the offence to collapse.

I kid, I kid..

Yeah I'd argue that Shotty would be on the hot seat with another playoff miss. I'm not ready to pencil the Cowboys into the super bowl yet, but I like their playoff odds. While I still think they are quite thin in a few areas they have enough pieces where they should be able to win 10 games. It seems like a reasonable expectation to me.
If we don’t make the playoffs again this year, I expect Jerry to treat it like they did Garrett. His first three seasons we did not make the playoffs and he had signed a 4 yr contract.

So in his fourth full season as HC in 2014, Garrett’s team made the playoffs. And JJ immediately signed him to a new 5 yr deal. Then when Garrett only made the playoffs again in two of his five remaining years (2016 and 2018), he still finished his contract and was just not re-signed.

Seeing Schotty finish 4 years is a pretty sure bet. Jerry hates to pay guys who aren’t working for him anymore.

Jerry said something rather intriguing in the day 3 post draft press conference. While acknowledging the 30 year drought, he said (I am paraphrasing as I don't remember the exact words) "Our primary goal isn't to build a championship roster. Our goal is to build this team every year to be better than the previous year.".

Like I said I am paraphrasing but in a nutshell, that's what he said.

So how long of a honeymoon does Parker get if all his defensive picks aren't hall of fame level performers?

And secondly, is this season a total defensive developmental audition or is any draft pick not named Downs gonna show something?
1. Christians honeymoon period is between 8-10 years.

2. Jaishawn Barham is going to be the biggest surprise of the defensive draft

Absolutely. This is shaping up to be a middle of the pack defense. Offense is already top notch.

Not saying you are wrong, But Jerry SHOULD remind Jerry he messed up Schottys tenure so far. This year Jerry is doing right. So if Jerry wants to keep it in perspective, he better own up to a lot. Schotty has a lot to do this year, Jerry has been very good with it. I would say honestly, this is BS first full year.

The term "hot seat" is not a thing in Dallas, and fans should know this.
As far as playoffs, the Giants have probably passed us, but we are still better than the No Names. Probably 3rd best in the division. We probably hang around the rim again, but I don't expect playoffs.
:lmao:

We'll undoubtedly get our chances at a playoff involvement, although, it's much too soon to say, one way or another. The defensive talent may be improved somewhat but is that enough to make a meaningful difference? Nobody know for sure but the fly on the wall. Let's just stay tuned. ;)
As far as Schotty being on the hot seat, I feel he deserves a real shot to get established.
Actually, it seems fairly clear that being on the "hotseat" comes far too easily w/the Cowboys.

They have a much better coach than we do, and a better defense. And we split last year.
Harbaugh is washed.

They traded away their best defensive player. We all saw how that worked out for Dallas’ D.

You guys fall into the same trap with the Giants every year.

Yes, because we proved we are so much better than them last year. And a washed Harbaugh is still better than any version of Schotty.

All I know is that Dallas has smoked them for something like 9 years running, minus wk 18 of last season after Dallas pulled starters.

Harbaugh wasn’t forced out of Baltimore because he still has ‘it’.

We’re just going to go round and round so let’s call this a modus vivendi.

I'd also add that we have a QB who has not proven to be able to win even two playoff games back to back.
