Adam Schefter is not a wildly popular man in Dallas right now. The NFL insider has been giving updates regarding the Dallas Cowboys and George Pickens, but his updates have been incorrect.

One example happened before the NFL draft kicked off. Schefter wrote that Pickens signed his franchise tender, leading to plenty of speculation that he was going to be traded during the draft. Not long after Schefter got everyone fired up, Todd Archer said Pickens has not signed his tender.
On Monday, he was at it again. This time, Schefter went on The Pat McAfee Show and said Pickens wanted a long-term extension, or he would like to be traded. The post was quickly deleted, which indicates that Schefter was once again incorrect in his report. That chain of events sent 105.3 The Fan’s Shan Shariff into what he called “a tizzy.”

My question........bad source or did he lie/make it up? Either way, he has too much experience to get this clumsy and messy with false information. Does he NOT have access to Pickens' agent.....I mean, he could have avoided this with a simple phone call.

I don't really follow the NFL insiders, but Adam has to be one of the top ones still, right?
Don't they get info by either cozying up to teams or agents?

I doubt he was throwing pasta on the wall, hoping it'll stick.

In Schefter's defense... maybe there was a potential trade that fell apart, coz I fail to believe he just made it up, especially given that the report was verifiable. In the end, it appears his source gave him bad info and he ran with it WITHOUT getting a confirmation.

I would agree. Maybe there was something brewing, but it fell apart in the later stages of the deal.

Yeah I think this is pull getting their chance to say he’s wrong and jumping on it because Schef is one of the best at what he does,

I don't think Shefter makes the rumors. I think he is used by the interested parties to manipulate public opinion and apply pressure. He needs to do a better job not being used, but all these guys rely on their sources to make a living.

My guess is that Schefter got fed some false info. I doubt he made it up.

Which NFL coach or GM is schefter sleeping with ? We know how these NFL insiders operate to get their info..

Wouldn't be surprised if the source is David Mulugheta. Not sure he doesn't have a bone to pick with Dallas.

If he did make it up isnt that what journalism is these days?

Just say anything

Meh, a lot of drama over nothing. He needs to stop saying that Pickens signed the tender until he actually does. That's the issue here. But, of course he wants a long term contract and because of this of course he EITHER wants to be traded and get it elsewhere OR is going to use that as a bargaining chip to get it here. Why do people get worked up over what they read on twitter. Heck, I read 37 different players that we were drafting in the first round on twitter over the last month...

Timely information is valuable to these wanna be reporters. So if they get a whiff of anything that have to beat people to the punch. This causes the misreporting because they are discussing stupid sports not reporting on world events.

Pretty much.

Whoever his source is was just giving him bad or mixed intel.
