Stephen publicly stated it on radio and he wasn't ambiguous about it. That's not Adam Shefter floating rumors.

I heard on Trust the Tape on Jeff Cavanaugh's channel that Schefter took something Clarence Hill said out of context and reported it as fact and that was his mistake. It happens. These guys are only human.

I understand both the keep and trade sides, though I don’t agree with those who say he is unwanted by other teams, that his behavior has burned too many bridges, or that he is now being disruptive.

My issue is with your absolute responses and inability to consider other possibilities. When you say things like “others don’t understand”, it comes across as the smartest guy in the room syndrome. Even in your response to me, you claim your voice is the voice of reason…so cringe. And the other thread is littered with posts where you refuse to consider alternate possibilities and instead belittle others opinions as less than.

I understand both the keep and trade sides, though I don’t agree with those who say he is unwanted by other teams, that his behavior has burned too many bridges, or that he is now being disruptive.

I have considered other options, if posted within reason. Would I have taken 2 1st round picks. But a 2nd or a 3rd or less. No.
We seen how he truly helped this offense and Dak last year. If not for him, especially when Cede missed games, or had his drop issues. Dallas may have won only 3 or 4 games at best. Not too many want to admit that. However some would have loved to only won that many.

But here you are wanting to argue about it.

I do in this situation. I'll be shocked if Dallas signs him to a long term contract prior to the July deadline. The cowboys have said all along they want him on a tag and nothing they have said or done lets me think otherwise.

Well, if he plays on the tag, and produces, great. Then we get to go through this all again in 2027.

I doubt we tag him. He'd be making CD Lamb money at that point without the benefit of dead cap years. We either sign him to a long term deal or let him walk and take the comp pick.

Cap will go up again enough to cover the extra of another tag, as they can figure that into the cap.
Other dead money comes off the books as well. Way too far away to speculate on anything. But they will not let him walk for a mere 3rd round comp pick and wait until 2028 for it.

They can also tag him next year and trade him. And if he does well and behaves this year, it will increase his market.

There a lot of things he could have said. He was very direct which isn't normal for the Jones people. Normally, we get a whole bunch of word salad left open to interpretation.

But, what he said has proven to be true so far. He said we haven't got any offers and wanted him to play on the tag. He also said there would be no negotiation on a long term. All of that has proven to be true. We heard none of that kind of directness with Dak, CD, or Micah.

I actually tend to agree. It appears their only intention was to play him in the tag this year. And his comment does lead you to believe it. But I still have a hard time believing it. Maybe it’s because IMO it is the wrong thing to play him on the tag. Better to sign or trade him. And that isn’t to say I don’t like him like some will claim. I just think it’s better to put the savings in other positions. I would love to be proven wrong and it appears I’ll get the chance. Lol
