Are we better off, the same, or worse now?

Jerry set a pretty low bar following the last Packers playoff game. They look better so far, but there's a long way to go yet.

For much of the year, the Cowboys were on pace to be one of the worst defenses of all time. It would be difficult NOT to improve that. Simply regression to the mean is going to lead to better results.

That said, I can see the offense taking a step back:
- The RB room is heavily dependent on Williams
- The tackles still suck
- The WR depth after Pickens and Lamb sucks, so an injury could lead to a problem

Overall, in order for Dallas to become a "good" team, the offense will have to stay roughly the same and Parker has to turn the defense from one of the worst of all time to average at a minimum. Given that he is a complete unknown, its fair to reserve your opinions.

I would say Ryan Flourney does not suck and is going to be a pretty solid/very good 3rd WR,

Think we definitely at DC, secondary and LB. although like to see a little more work at LB.

The 2025 season ended about 4 months ago. After FA and the draft, how does the current roster compare?

nowhere to go but up.....

We have added a pile of talent on D. Pretty much remade the whole thing. If someone thinks we won't be better, I'd love to hear a detailed analyses of why.

I hate to do this to you but since I've been consistent with this it's too soon it's incomplete it's TBD we do not know the actual roster after cut downs that it's gonna actually look like they're gonna be the ones here in the regular season so I am holding out my evaluations of the roster until then which be in camp but for me it's after cut downs and then they churn the bottom might even make a trade right before the season starts..

Think this is too soon to evaluate this so I don't have an answer you left out TBD INC...

TBD on whether we are better or not. On paper we are better, but that assumes this rookie class is full of starters.
You're correct but to add to that the reason it's incomplete 'cause we don't know what this roster is gonna look like until pre-season the cut downs the last game and then the churning of the bottom and then a possible trade I make my evaluations a week leading up to the season then we can start really looking at this roster and seeing how it might develop..

Too many moving parts things that can change also remember injuries can happen in camp and that could change the evaluation we have a major injury a player might be out the whole season that could be big so why evaluate now instead of later I evaluate later so I don't have to say things twice..

Not really. We've added Q, Ogboner, Thompson, Gary, Locke, Durant, and Clark to the D. That's 7 guys who are proven to be able to play in the NFL. We were already loads better before the draft. We are better on the field, period.

Oh, and I forgot Winters, who is a proven NFL player.

How do you see us not being better?

So what are you going to do, become a fan again once they win one?
Brother, I live in Washington state now, and have to clean skoal off of my Cowboys decal on my car, and get ridiculed when I'm decked out in Cowboys gear on Sundays. I went to my first game in 83. I bleed blue and silver. My fandom has never died. I just don't get as riled up about the seasons as much I used too. The last time we were relevant my knees and back still worked. It is what it is amigo.

I think the team will be more balanced this year. I don't see how the defense can be any worse. I'm also not sold on our o-line which may show up more this year due to the difficulty of our schedule. Ultimately I think we get to 9 wins, and set up for a bigger improvement the following year.

Sure, but you willing to bet the season on it?
This season? Yes. I don’t expect much this year. If he doesn’t prove himself then next year we acquire a better #2 when I think we should be better positioned to make a real run. If you think that we actually have a chance this year, then I completely get it. And if I thought that, heck no you don’t let Pickens go and rely on Flournoy.

This is a difficult question to answer in May.

New players via the draft and free agency coupled with typical fan optimism always makes it seem to look better.

Reality always hits us in September.

Then again, how much worse could it get considering last season? It's not like the Cowboys are going to end up with the 33rd ranked defense in 2026.
