Are we better off, the same, or worse now?

I just wish they had the same energy they had this offseason every year.

We are definitely better by 2 metrics : We have a coaching staff that has modern thinking for this NFL. We have and are upgrading several groups. DT and Safety are both very good strong units. LB is a work in progress but CP doesn't put a lot on the LB'ers other than edge rushing and stopping the run. Our question mark will be the DB's. But no question the front and back ends of the D are better and they're playing a more modern defensive style. Just hope they grasp the concepts fast.

2025 Defense had bad players, bad concepts, and bad coaching at the top.

We're much better off but don't expect SB results. I'm looking for 2027 to be our year.

Amen to that. The one constant is Johnny walker Jerry and his band of misfit front office lackeys. Still have the pickens drama lurking in the wings. Unproven DC. Still issues with beating playoff quality defenses. Is guyton going to be the guy at LT. Is Steele going to be something other than a traffic cone at RT.

On paper, things look better.

But jerry is still jerry. Stephen is Stephen. Thats why it's difficult to get excited until we as fans see this team on the field.

Don't worry about Jerry. If you've noticed he has kept a pretty low profile and a combination of coaches and scounts made these draft decisions. Stephen will be around but let's look at him. His main duties are contracts and acquiring talent and those look OK to me. Who made the 1st round trade calls in the recent draft???? Someone has to be given credit for some pretty forward thinking, negotiating, and then performance in a time pressured situation. Is that Stephen????????????

Hating on the front office for pass failures is deserved but they get some things right and so far 2026 looks right to me. Actually getting Pickens and Quinan Williams seem like pretty strong moves for 2025 and I'm glad that a selfish big mouth like Parsons is gone too ! He was a cancer waiting to blow up ! Now let his disgruntled azz blow up on the frozen tundra. Thanks Stephen for some strong player personnel moves the last 2 years !

It is very hard to just instantly go from a back to back non playoff team to a contender. With our 4th DC in 4 seasons, it will probably take some time to get these players, most of whom are young and/or new to the team, to get United.

Plus we have a rookie DC in Parker who looks like he’s going to be great with loads of potential. He just needs to show it on the field in real games.

Yup.

And CP needs to win.

If you looked at the DC website, it was reported at 5PM (yesterday) that he did officially sign the tag. Not sure when he signed but yes, he is signed. I think Schefter got grilled for nothing....

Well that’s good news . One less contract for him to concentrate on football . Thank you .

He got grilled because it wasn’t signed at the time he reported it.

Agreed. Any number of guys like P.J. Locke can as well. I was joking about Goodwin because it seems like he keeps getting re-signed for ST for the past decade plus.

Goodwin was usually one of, if not the first FA they resigned.
Not doing so this season was a fairly good indicator!

Haha exactly what I wanted to say. On paper it does look pretty good. No erratic moves, no PR stunts, just quietly trying to improve the team with some logical, understandable decisions. Haven't seen this in 30 years or ever.

But as you have said, nothing's been accomplished yet. The decisions the FO made can't be judged before mid season (earliest).

I just like their "style" this year, if you know what I mean. It's almost as if Jerry isn't the GM anymore and some dude (or gal) in the dark is pulling the strings lol. Are these the new Cowboys? Or is it just a break from the usual mess?
