Signed by Cowboys Cowboys 1st round pick Caleb Downs signed his four-year deal

I liked it as a positive because of the Hall of Fame Jacket quote. Anybody that knows football and has watched Caleb Downs play football, realizes the jacket is a possibility. I haven't been this excited about a Dallas first round pick since DeMarcus Ware, real excited to watch Downs play for the Cowboys.
I see Downs as an elite player. He is a can't miss. It was unbelievable to get him at pick 11. It is my opinion that the Giants blew it. If they were going to take the olineman they should have taken Downs with their other pick.

Then you look at the rest of the draft. If the Cowboys hit on Lawrence and Barham they are going to be very good.

When the Giants didn't draft Caleb Downs at 10, I could not believe it. Yeah, I am with you on the luck of drafting Downs at pick 11. I am starting to believe that Jaishawn Barham might be can't miss as well. In interviews you can tell playing football at a high level, and with violence is important to him. The guy has great film he stays in the back field, and his motor never stops, you're not going to out hustle him.

Can you be any more negative. Sheesh.
You seem to be infatuated with people being negative, as if you've been ONLY positive here on this site. I've seen you multiple times, I have proof, the truth will set you free!! :hammer:

Jerry could have drafted a box of moth balls and a cherry slushee and you would be convinced they were going to be very good.

What I say is true so I am already free.
Negativity keeps one trapped in their own minds.

Let's see him play first. The San Diego Chargers were pretty high on Ryan Leaf back in 1998 when they drafted him 2nd overall. That didn't turn out so well, did it....

I'm certainly not saying Downs will be a bust, but I'm hesitant to put him up on a pedestal before he's played his first game. The NFL isn't the same as college - he might excel, but he might not.
I'm with you! I don't get this rush to break out the anointing oil. I actually find joy in being initially skeptical and then ACTUALLY being won over by consistently good play. I've felt that way about Tyron, D-Law, Dak (at one point long, long ago), Witten...honestly Troy Aikman too. So, there's nothing wrong with a healthy dose of "prove it".

This is where I miss coaches like Jimmy and Da Tuna.

I'm very high on Downs. Watching him at Alabama and Ohio St I thought he could be the next Ed Reed 4 years ago but with that said, NOTHING is guaranteed on this planet except death and taxes as you know.

I prefer to wait and see also. I have a good feeling about him but a lot of teams had good feelings about their "can't miss" guys too. Jamarcus Russell, Ryan Leaf, Jeff Okudah, Justin Blackmon, the list goes on and on. The homers here talking about it are making me cringe just because I don't want to see bad karma go his way. Also, injuries derail can't miss careers all the time so it would be nice if everyone kept their mouths shut about him being a hall of famer. LOL!

I'm with you on Downs. I see the same traits everyone else sees. Those lists of busts were all headcases and by-and-large Downs is like a Dak clone as regards level-headedness. Two things:

- I remember when Parcells was talking about some of the SB vets that were still on the team. And the press is questioning him about starters and it seemed to revolve around Darren Woodson. And Parcells said, "I always tell my vets, 'You still gotta show me you can do it. You don't have to practice everyday, but you still gotta show me you can do it.' "

- Byron Jones, Death and Taxes: Like you said nothing is guaranteed and Bryon Jones was a smart, talented player who just couldn't catch an INT for his life. There was some intangibles missing...I mean even Donovan Wilson has better hands than him. So we still have to see him put it all together in the NFL.

I’m not going to anoint him until he shows it on the field. But don’t you think he’s a very good prospect with huge upside?

Why is someone a Homer because they are high on what Downs can do. Based on his college play. And what the consensus of 99% of the world believes.
That 1% posts on here.

He is the only freshman to ever lead Alabama in tackles. Alabama has been a football powerhouse for roughly 100 years.

I just said I was high on him. Saying you are high on a guy is a little different then declaring him "can't miss" and a "lock" to go to the Hall of Fame without even playing a NFL down yet. There's a bunch of people already fitting him for a yellow jacket. I don't know the % but it seems high. They are absolutely homers.

Who said fit him for a jacket. Other than some accused someone saying it when they did not. Not that,I seen anyway.

A lot of talking heads, Cowboys content creators, etc. I didn't specifically call anyone out on here although I'm sure several think it also. They know who they are...
