Blue/Trigg unique skillsets but maturity concerns

Cowboy offense just doesn't have that home run type of back, outside of Blue. Same goes for the TE position lacking that athletic pass catcher.

Blue barely dressed last season as they just didn't trust him enough. In the season finale, he showed the explosiveness that Williams just doesn't possesses.

Trigg who many saw as a early day 3 pick, went undrafted due to his character concerns. His tape shows a huge catch radius like a poor man's Dez Bryant. Him up the seem and in the red zone with our other receivers could be downright scary.

The big question is, will these two players buy in and do what it takes to become key contributors next season? It is a big if at this time, but if they do, our offense could reach another level.

Williams is a bruiser but he runs with authority and upright power where many power running backs lean too far forward and lose their center of gravity.

While he may not be a homerun threat burst wise, he's still quite capable of solid speed while fending off tackles.

That said, it was noticeable last year when Malik Davis entered the game as the speed shifted up a couple of levels immediately.

While I am not saying Malik Davis is ever going to be a star runningback, he did show last year he can be a homerun threat.

I want to see Blue succeed, but so far he has not lived up to the fan hype I have been hearing about since he was drafted.

I hope that changes this year, but until it happens, I think the Cowboys need to be looking for an upgrade either internally or externally.

IDK If I consider him a star in the making, but he's on the same trajectory as it took Rico a while, and he reminds me of Tony Pollard, I mean he runs just like him if you will watch his game they're probably about the same size with speed and wiggle, so yeah, I like this room I don't know why people think we need to go in and add another to this group, Mafahs another bruiser..

I Like the whole room, Blue gives you home run hitting ability, and they need to really use that this year not a lot this dude doesn't need a lot of extra snaps, but I'd like him to at least touch the ball five times as a runner and get at least two to three more routes..

In my opinion they need to stop using CD Lamb and Turpin as much as running backs, and use the guys that are built to do it Same plays, same play calls Just use the guys were built to do this..

I think you're rushing it not that I disagree it took Rico and now Davis a long time to catch on and yet they got every chance they did not get cut after 2 seasons.. It takes some players even like we talk about Guyton and another threat to actually pick up the pro game and figure it all out..

Guys do not always develop at the same pace as others Those are perfect examples right in the same room it took Rico three years just to start getting more carries in the coaches to trust him now Davis is on that same trajectory, sometimes these guys need more than two seasons, Fan comes in and says if they don't show it this year they're out..LOL

Anytime you lose a starter you're gonna have a drop off what happens if you lose Prescott I don't care what Sam Howell can do or Milton it's not the same But you worry about that if and when it happens...

If that happens you can add to the room, Mafah would be the guy that could give you similar reps, along with Hunter , these are big dudes that can do similar things That is why you have a room full of them until you don't yes if you have an injury then you add you don't add to it now the room looks good and most people here agree I like this room and it's gonna be better this year with the same names..

Don't leave out Hunter He is not just a fullback he is a big running back and he can catch the ball in the backfield That is why most of us say ethic room I really like the room and yes if there's an injury maybe they add but you don't add it now you can pick up a running back most anytime that can be added to a room..

Need to give these players camp and preseason then we can judge some of y'all are just getting way ahead of this...

Malik Davis has been with the Cowboys since 2022. He's a veteran and played like one. He too had some issues early on with the Cowboys. Maybe give Blue a little grace/time.

Hard to believe the level of distrust they had with Blue.........but they apparently saw the same issues that cost him playing time in college. Schotty kept saying he had to earn the right to play. Correct me if I'm wrong but that's work ethic. Even crazier, this was just a couple of games' issue, but the entire season.

Not poised for breakout, but he can take some of those snaps along with Mafah, and a running back by committee, he can run, He's not just a fullback, they can utilize him in the same role should something catastrophic happen along with Mafah and they would just roll along just fine, sure there's a drop off there's gonna be a drop off with anybody you bring in ,what are they supposed to bring in Derek Henry as a backup?lmao

The answer to that is you cross that bridge when you get to it,

if you have an injury you go get a guy off the free agent list off somebody else's practice squad, somebody might add to your own practice squad, but I like this room, but again anybody that's starting and gets injured there's typically going to be a pretty big drop off.

How about to all the doubters that think we need to add to this running back room You allow the damn mini camps Otas training camp and some pre-season games happen before you start with your snap judgments...

Correct you can do the same thing with Rico he went through the same issues... Guys develop at a different rate and learn to pro game at a different rate you just don't cut them after the 1st two seasons say it's over...

With or without these two, the O will reach another level. Williams is consistently reliable and our TE position is suitably filled with Fergie. The only thing that can stop us is a poor D.

But Trigg looks to be a steal. Bobby Belt has said that WR Josh Cameron from Baylor was telling teams that his teammate Trigg was a special player. You can see him jump off the screen in youtube clips. He is very similar to Eli Stowers that the eagles took in the 2nd round. Stowers is more reliable and has a longer track record but Trigg flashes more on tape with the high point one handed grabs.
