Project Hail Mary: 8/10

It lived up to the hype. It was a really good movie, but had some flaws. You have to turn your brain off, because a lot of the details don't make a lot of sense. I am sure the book is way more believable, simply because there is time to flesh everything out. The story bogs down a little in the middle. It is way too long, but for the most part, kept me interested. Ryan Gosling is perfect and obviously carries the movie, as he is the only human on the screen for 90% of the movie.

Guy Pearce has some good movies.

Momento
LA Confidential
Count of Monte Cristo
Ravenous
And a few Aussie movies that most do not know about
The Rover
Animal Kingdom
The Infernal machine
He's very good in The Brutalist if you haven't seen that one yet. Also check out The Proposition too if you haven't.

Mortal Kombat II - 5.5/10. Okay, I guess. It could have been worse. It is better than the first one, but that's a pretty low bar.

I'd heard that Andy Weir wrote the novel with Gosling in mind as the main character.

Nah. I just watched an interview and he didn’t have anyone in mind. He said that since he was the producer, he had to approve him and said it was a no brainer.

Fun little dark comedy action movie. Has ready or not kind of vibes to it.

Kind of slow. Not terrible but not great.

Not the series with Eva Green. This is a movie and it sucks. Stay away from this stinker.

The Lighthouse. For some reason, I never watched this. Great acting by both and great cinematography. I didn't really get it, but enjoyed the movie. 8/10. I have become a big Robert Pattinson fan, which is something I never thought I would say.
He really has become damn good actor and Dafoe is always great.

I remember groaning over him getting cast as the newest Batman....but he did great. That version of the role was a more grounded, isolated, and emotionally messed-up Bruce Wayne compared to the polished “playboy billionaire” portrayals, and he killed it.

I didn't like him at all as Batman...and that's better than I expected. Just physically, I couldn't get past the fact that they needed to make a cowl that made it look like he had a neck.

Also, he already did the brooding thing in the idiotic wannabe vampire movies. He just looks like a spoiled brat when he does it.

But hey, if you liked it, that's cool! :muttley:

That’s fair. I actually thought he nailed the younger, obsessive detective side of Batman more than he would have the polished billionaire version. I can definitely see why the constant brooding wouldn’t work for everyone though lol. The cowl thing never really bothered me personally, but I get what you mean.

I like the feel of the new Batman movie universe the most with its dark sadistic crime vibe, but yeah, there have definitely been better Batmans. He was okay. So was Ben Affleck. I guess it's not a hard character to get down. Put on the cowl, brood, and growl. Or you can always go the other direction....

Meh. Just seen this type of movie multiple times and in some cases much better. Just kind of cookie cutter.

Another Meh movie. But if you like the genre I have seen worse.

Michael Keaton was great as Batman, IMO. He and Christian Bale are probably my favorites. I know people slammed Bale for the Batman voice, but I mean… he’s Batman. He kind of has to sound different and disguise himself.

I do not hate this movie. Kind of Meh to me.
It has that Big Fish or the secret life of walter mitty vibe but those two are more entertaining to me.

Just saw The Mandalorian & Gromgu

C+

I do give them credit by trying to salvage the damage by Kathleen Kennedy of this Franchise. This is not really for real little kids( a lot of monsters). A lot of action, but seemed very long. Not a bad story.

I thought this movie was garbage. I thought the ending was a ridiculous. I have never seen 2001: A Space Odyssey at the top of any movie list. It is #104 on IMDB's top movies list, 10 spots behind Toy Story 3. You will never convince me that Kubrick and his crew were not completely stoned out of their minds when the came up with the ending of this movie. He didn't explain the ending because he couldn't explain the ending when he was sober. It was just an awful movie and the critics were right to trash it when it first came out.

Just my opinion. Some may disagree.
