Jerry would never look for Dak’s replacement while he’s still on the team. He’d wait until he’s gone and then replace him. It only hope is that the older he gets the less involved he becomes. We saw evidence of that this last draft. Let’s hope it continues.
A good reason for that and that's why the Rams are being criticized for what they did the Cowboys this year couldn't afford it It was a weak quarterback class in the first place but they used a lot of their draft picks on other players like George Pickens and Quinn Williams They used some others to trade up and around they had bigger holes to worry about some years Then who's gonna sit for years and then you hope when he finally gets his chance he's gonna be good because that's usually not the case...
I always find it ironic that you all think it's that easy that you find a good enough quarterback to replace your current one stash them on a roster in a league that 16 teams at some point have struggled for a decade finding a starter but we're just gonna reach out overdraft and stash one on the roster..
That doesn't work that way teams have gotten lucky that's just how it works sometimes but other teams have not I mean how long did it take the Jets and the Browns and even the Giants in Washington I mean Washington let go of Cousins Who is playing pretty well they just didn't like it they thought they could just reach in and go find another one and the Jerry's still out if Jayden Daniels will stay healthy enough or be a real short career or turn in a very average We saw that before with that very team.
Bring it to your attention how silly it sounds for fans to think you could just go find one and stash it when there are teams in this league that can't even find a starter you have to dumb luck your way into a player like we did with Romo and Dak I mean sure they put him on the team but Tom Brady and Brock Purdy were not supposed to be the future of those teams at quarterback they got lucky...
Just like you watch the Packers you seem like 0 this is a plan well no they got lucky That's just the way it is because other teams have spent decades I mean I don't even think the Browns have still found their quarterback when's the last time they've had even someone that you could consider a franchise quarterback oh that's right they thought they were doing the right thing by getting rid of Baker That was also a mistake..
But you want the Cowboys to do something at backup quarterback of the future Well other teams can't even do at starter...
Lastly and I realize you don't like the choices in hindsight or whatever the Cowboys put a 4th and a 5th round pick which is about where they would have used in the draft to look at another quarterback but they used it on Milton and Trey Lance And Trey Lance is also a backup with the Chargers so don't tell me how bad of a choice it would have been I mean the San Francisco 49ers thought he was good enough to get three first round picks so I don't want to hear how they wasted a 4th round pick no Jerry's looking for that guy in a different manner..
He's hoping at some point one of these projects are going to turn into the next Romo somebody you never thought was going to be the starter here not a franchise quarterback for sure and Prescott was a 4th rounder that was 4th on the depth chart And there you go that's how it works you get lucky You just put the guys on the roster and you hope they can fill a position but if you try to overdraft a quarterback of the future and then you wait three years and it turns out he's not so good you could have got a player that can play right now..
When this team is not producing at the quarterback position then we can talk about replacing him But right now Prescott is still producing at a very high level he's in very good shape It's not something you should just try to get rid of quickly I understand people want comfort from the fans perspective they want the guy on the roster ready to take over and that's just not how it works...
Yes Jerry's doing it Non conventional way instead of drafting them and hope you find one like Tom Brady or Brock Purdy they use those resources to go get one off another team...
They are looking they're just not looking hard and I don't think they should... Again the Be careful what you wish for everyone trying to get rid of Prescott really fast and I already mentioned some of the other teams that did that and it was a mistake they should never let Baker or Cousins go until they were really sure..
Been seen lately some of these retreads daniel Jones looks like he's found himself maybe Malik Willis Geno Smith and more recently Sam Darnold's the poster child for going from bust to a ring.
I can't Jerry do that that's basically what he's doing he's getting these guys and he's hoping that one of them will find their way into at least being a solid starter..
