Week 1: Cowboys at Giants SNF

Im saying I dont get why it always has to be the Giants. Why can't we open up the season vs other teams? Why the Giants more than other teams?
Ahhh…got it, I completely agree. Even if it was Washington or Philly, at least it would be different.

Open at New York, followed by 3 straight home games against the easier opponents.

Setting up a brutal final stretch to end the season on the road
It allows every talking head to drum up all the Cowboys?! Are they Super Bowl bound?! Early on. Then they get to drum up the collapse/disappointment as we fall short.

Gotta stop falling short then.

I am all intrigued at this matchup. And, may I add, I am all hopped up at the countdown for the first game.

The Giants bring Dart, Skatebo and with their 10th pick, got OT Francis Mauigoa. Their 5th overall got them LB Arvell Reece.
The Cowboys answer with a balanced run/pass attack (Dak, Lamb, Williams) and a D that cannot possibly be worse than 2025. Egads! How will Caleb Downs do? Is Malachi NFL-ready? Is this, lads, our LB strategy and core of players?

The drama surrounding the D is network worthy.
It is ratings gold, gold I tell you!

It's a tiring yearly event that keeps the networks fed.

They were a “prevent” ******* DC and ~65 yard FG away from beating us last year. They lost Dexter who was a shell of his former self last year and added Reese. They also lost Robinson but he wasn’t much better than any of the the players he was replaced with, his numbers were “artificially” inflated because Nabers went down and he became the #1 WR.

We were the worst run defense last year and they were 5th in rushing overall. Their secondary still sucks and I think they messed up by not taking Downs but this isn’t the same team they played last year and neither are we. Overall, I think we may win because it’s the first week and our offense hasn’t changed a bit but this is no gimme and I wouldn’t be shocked if we lost.
I am not buying their renaissance. Dart has no weapons outside of Nabers, and while their front 7 has some pass rushers, I am not sold on them stopping the run w/o Dexter up front.

If they beat us, it is a bad sign for where Dallas is as a franchise. The Giants are a midling team at best, so we would be losing to an underdog when we have some clear roster advantages that should exploit their weaknesses.

Gift wrapped? Do you know who their coach is? They have great young talent over there. First of all, this is the NFL. Nothing is gift wrapped at this level.

NFL coaches and players have always said its hard to win games in the NFL.
Running scared from a division rival already? Lol

Look. It’s simple. If this Dallas squad can’t beat the Giants we are going nowhere in 2026.

Yes. This is a gift wrapped game for us. About as easy a division road game to start the season as possible.

We get them banged up (their two best offensive skill players may not even play) and we get a crack at Harbaugh while the cement on his installation is far from being dried.

If we lose, we have no business thinking about the playoffs as that would mean we are still very much needing a rebuild.

I’d rather play a “tougher” opponent week 1. Bad teams like NY still have hope early in the year, and they’re young/eager enough where a new HC like Harbaugh is gonna have them bought in and ready to go.

I’ll go 31-24 Cowboys, but NY gives us a fight to the end.
I heard the NY fans say the same thing about us.
