Kind of random but it's the off season and I thought this was cool.

Great statI had posted in the History Forum recently perhaps the most incredible NFL record that Emmitt holds.
Emmitt Smith is the only player in NFL history to have gained over 1000 first downs. No other player has even 800, let alone over 1000.
Should’ve edited that part outAnd painful to see him in red.

Smith was better than Sanders
.... DebatableYep, he had 140 yards and seemed to be destined for a historic game. One of the great what if's.IIRC, that Vikings game was right after Sweetness died. Emmitt had an NFL single-game rushing record pace, but broke his finger in that guy's helmet in the first run shown.
Not debatable at all. Emmitt holds all the major records. He's the Jerry Rice of RBs. Hell, he's arguably beyond that (see the 1000+ first downs NFL record above)..... Debatable
He was gonna break 300 that day in my opinion. I was certain of it until the injury. The Vikings simply couldn't stop him at all.Yep, he had 140 yards and seemed to be destined for a historic game. One of the great what if's.
That was my feeling as well.He was gonna break 300 that day in my opinion. I was certain of it until the injury. The Vikings simply couldn't stop him at all.
Like I said it's debatableNot debatable at all. Emmitt holds all the major records. He's the Jerry Rice of RBs. Hell, he's arguably beyond that (see the 1000+ first downs NFL record above).
And before you say, "if Barry didn't retire..." that is a what if argument that you can't know how it turns out. Perhaps Barry gets injured and has to retire the very next game.
Also, Barry couldn't touch Emmitt when it came to scoring TDs, catching the ball, and blocking.
Imo, Smith was a far better Football player than Sanders but Sanders may be one of the best pure "runners" the NFL has ever seen.Smith was better than Sanders
Emmitt holds all major records because he spent the last four or five years of his career padding his stats. He made no secrets his goal was to break Walter Payton's record. He didn't care much about winning as getting the record. Not debatable at all. Emmitt holds all the major records. He's the Jerry Rice of RBs. Yes I remember the game I remember the injury I don't believe he came out in the second half but yes he was on a record pace but that's how you live and die with the straight arm He did that a lot to gain more yardage and this time he got his fingers stuck in a helmet...IIRC, that Vikings game was right after Sweetness died. Emmitt had an NFL single-game rushing record pace, but broke his finger in that guy's helmet in the first run shown.
Look I'm sorry but saying you didn't want to win is ridiculous he was just in a non winning situation towards the end and why not after a long career and longevity is part of the game availability sometimes is better than this alleged pure running back you're speaking of..Emmitt holds all major records because he spent the last four or five years of his career padding his stats. He made no secrets his goal was to break Walter Payton's record. He didn't care much about winning as getting the record.
That's where he lost me a little bit. Also one of the reasons why Bill Parcell didn't want him to play for him. So as far as him holding all the major records I give you that but not the best pure running back.
