The fallout from the Micah trade feels a bit like Herschel

...more surprising was not being good against the run.

Basically, he's pass rusher specialist. They are many of those.
We can’t seem to find one two years on.

Our pass rush last year was terrible and this year isn’t likely to be much better.

But I wasn’t. You are misrepresenting the entire sequence of events.

You’re even giving Jalen Thompson as part of this.

It’s impossible to debate this around here because people are willfully being dishonest
Cope.

You folks always get the trade wrong. Its honestly almost willful misinformation.
No it isn’t.
They traded down GB’s pick, got the 23rd pick, and 2 - 4th round picks.
Why is that wrong?

It's ok. Admit you were grotesquely wrong and move on. Like all the other threads. Must get tiring.
Hes not really wrong though and brings up a valid discussion point....especially if your lumping in players like Ottito Ogbonnia who are not directly tied to the Parsons trade or assets gained from the Parsons trade we also need to factor into the equation the players we will be missing out on like a 1st round player in 2027, and a 2nd round player from the 2026 draft.

The trade Micah argument and the we got good value for Micah argument were both already valid sides of the debate, but this thread only includes the math that makes the anti Parsons crowd look bad. It's a false receation of history that should be called out by even fans of the Parsons trade because of the missing context.

That doesn't even include talking about the money piece, which Micah wont exceed the $47m number he gets bashed for until 2029 when the bulk of his money wont even be guaranteed. Is Micah still an expensive asset? Absolutely. Does he break the bank the way fans want to make it seem? No... The Cowboys are paying more for Q this year alone than Micah is costing the Packers.

Nothing wrong with it, but we need to include the additional assets lost as well instead of just using the pro Cowboy math.

I like a lot of what they've done with the assets acquired from the Parsons deal, and have no issue with anyone preferring the moves they made to keeping Parsons, but comparing it to the Walker trade is a slap in the face to the Walker trade.

Would you rather have.....?

Micah Parsons

or Kenny Clark, Quinnen Williams, Malachi Lawrence, Rashan Gary, and Ottito Ogbonnia
I said at the time we needed to trade Parsons. In addition to that haul, we got those 2 picks in the 4th (I LOVE both players we got) and Cowboys avoided paying Parsons that overinflated contract.

The final tally in this trade shows how lopsided it was in the Cowboys favor. By lopsided, I mean LOPSIDED.

Lol, that’s what you guys have been doing for a year now.

I actually supported the Micah trade.

What I don’t support is the recreation of the false history that’s been created because some of you simply can’t have am honest discussion.
Can’t handle anything good that happens with the Cowboys eh?

Yeah, like him, you really didn't read what I wrote.

This probably not a popular opinion, but none of us know who “won” the Micah Parsons trade yet.

I will judge the trade based on whether or not we have won more than a wild card playoff game the next four years.

Why? That’s all we accomplished when Parsons was here. So in the next four years (the length of time Parsons was a Cowboy) if we win a couple more playoff games, the trade will have been a success.

IMO, people calling it a win now is just hope. Nothing wrong with that but it’s not definite yet.

It's a bit more than that. Quinnen is one of the best players in the NFL, and Gary and Clark, (and Ogbinnia to a lesser extent) are solidly established veterans.

Add Jalen Thompson, too. That guy is really good, and it's being overshadowed by the Downs pick. He's a terrific deep safety that will allow Caleb to roam.
You say allow Caleb to roam. Have they not said that he will be in the slot? That’s extremely misusing him compared to what he did at Ohio State.

I hope it turns out similarly too! It'll be an interesting study when we look back 4-5 years from now. Right now it's just a bunch of names on paper.
I agree in terms of the roster.

I am much more interested in the possibility of this being a change in mindset. Did the Micah trade and Micah brou haha shift the Cowboys mgmt mindset to stop dicking around and actually get to work?

Not sure what was the driver, but I will be happy to salute the trade if it makes the team chase after more SuperBowls in an aggressive fashion.

Best offseason roster management we've seen around here in a long, long time.
100%......I agree Parsons trade, like Herchel Walker's, allowed us to flip one player for multiple players, something we have seen from this FO. But that's where the similarities end IMO. Herchel Walker was one for the ages.........

If Micah is not getting at least 13-14 sacks this year for the Pack then what is bringing to the table? His run defense is pretty bad. 1.7 legs this year will make it tough for him to perform to prior standards. Will be interesting.
