Should Turpin put more focus on special teams than WR?

Seems like he may have had too much on his plate, trying to develop as a WR and losing that focus on his best attribute to this team which is his return ability on special teams. Should he go back to focusing more on that, and not WR? I think a lot of us see a difference in his return ability that isn't what it once was. There's still hope. I'm not saying take him completely out of the offense, but with FLO being our #3 I think this helps! Please give your input!!

Here the hut, run as fast as you can like a mofo. Catch ball if it touches your hands. Shouldn't need much more instruction than that for a No 4 receiver. IMO...... don't put him out there unless we need 4 WR's on the field at the same time. If we see this scenario then something seriously has gone wrong. In my eyes, Turpin is a return man, that is all.

Either a player has return skills or he does not. Kick and punt returning is pretty simple. Any player incapable of incorporating kick and punts with their wide receiver responsibilities should not be playing at any level of the sport.

I am certain KaVontae Turpin can continue doing both as well as he is capable. Any problem he may eventually have does not pertain to what he is already doing. It is the possibility someone else will come along and perform one or both tasks better than him, but that problem is not unique to only him.

Great find. Dynamic speed (none of you knew about his speed until I just told you, yes? Knew it) I thought the new KO rules would really help him but it’s about the same. If he breaks through that initial barrier it’s over. They can’t strip that NFL All-Pro award away from him. Some damn good players throughout history don’t have even one of those. I wouldn’t want to be kicking off to him as an opponent.

Seems to me as when he gets some WR snaps, he makes a play somehow. Maybe that’s about the staff sneaking him in there at the right time. I’d take more advantage of his skillset, but up to Shoddy and Staff. Maybe they want to run more, which is great work if you can get it. There’s only one football and Lamb and Pickens share the same one. Flournoy doesn’t exactly stink either.

Who are you speaking for? A lot of us?

Have you so soon forgotten that dropped punt against the Commodes that he turned into six?

Further, with his speed and elusiveness, it would seem to me the real addition to his skill set belongs to the blocking. Special teams create the lanes and his speed gets him to the punter. Kick offs are a different deal since the league has decided to change kick offs to touch football.

But one has to wonder what this offense will look like with a second year of Pick, and Lamb, with Turpin going deep from the slot.

However, the idea of reducing his WR duties makes no sense. Does he bring that much to the punt game that you can have a specialist who does essentially nothing else?

Dallas has better options than turpin at wr. He's ok as a 4th wr with a little juice but he plays small. I was hoping by now his connection with Dak would have been better. As far as his ST skills go, I think our ST coach is average at best and unless he does a better job coaching this unit up that group won't be very good other than Kicker.

I didn't think you can really coach KO return skills, buddy. Our ST coach sucks is the main problem.

I think you have packages with him at WR, but mainly run out top 3 out there.

Hear you on that, what about jet sweeps you know they want to INVOLVE him in the offense for some bloody reason

They have to have someone to give him competition or allow there to be competition. Maybe someone surprises during pre season

Very good points

You have to bring up more to me than something that happened two years ago
The coaches need to stop thinking of him as a WR.
I hear ya

Maybe give more time to mingo

Mingo does fit the body type most QB's love, bigger target, bigger catch radius. Though Mingo hasn't really shown much either. Maybe that new undrafted TE earns the reps on offense.

Do you think he's in charge of how much he plays as a WR? No, he is not.

Lol lol that's weird!!!! Every player in the NFL is in charge of what they get, if he's going half azz, always injured, drops passes, doesn't take care of his body etc, what difference does it make!!? He's making it easier not to get any chances

If the position of an individual player impacts wins and losses, then it matters. This, has no bearing on anything, especially wins and losses. I don't see anyone saying- "we would have been in the playoffs, if only Turpin would have stuck to ST."

Had nothing to do with that at all

Wrong, He can do his best and still not make the field as a WR. It's up to the coaching staff.

The new kicking rules have really almost taken long run backs out of the game. The late start by the kicking team keeps them more in their lanes and prevents returns . You may as well be satisfied starting at the 30 rather than running it to the 20 and getting a penalty for the customary block in the back. Then you start at the 10.

Dallas has to be creative in finding ways to get him the ball underneath and in the seams where he can use his elusiveness and speed. But with Lamb and Pickens, and Ferguson… it will be tough and unlikely. They don’t seem to practice jet sweeps and screens very much either.

Yes he should focus more on his special teams job, instead of WR he's not that good of WR, in fact he's a gimmick, trick play WR

After you catch 10-15 punts or kicks in practice what else you going to do?
