Rate the last movie you saw

I thought this movie was garbage. I thought the ending was a ridiculous. I have never seen 2001: A Space Odyssey at the top of any movie list. It is #104 on IMDB's top movies list, 10 spots behind Toy Story 3. You will never convince me that Kubrick and his crew were not completely stoned out of their minds when the came up with the ending of this movie. He didn't explain the ending because he couldn't explain the ending when he was sober. It was just an awful movie and the critics were right to trash it when it first came out.

Just my opinion. Some may disagree.
While I think the plot is pretty far out there, it set the stage for pretty much every sci fi movie that has existed. The set design and cinematography, especially given the time it was made, still hold up today. Technically and visually, it is a masterpiece.

I’m giving Project Hail Mary an 8.3/10 on first viewing

Visually amazing tearjerker that was very heartfelt. Gosling nailed it per the usual. Some things didn’t make sense regarding the plot/science, but there’s a sentient rock with legs in the movie, so you are expected to suspend belief anyway.

Saw In the Grey. I rate it 7.5 out of 10. Good action and I have to say Erica Gonzales is a beautiful young women.

Really want to see this one. I like the majority of Guy Richie movies.

Scream 7

There is nothing earth-shattering or different in this movie but the killings are more gory. It brought back that ‘90’s nostalgia vibe though. I would rank it right in the middle of the franchise. I think it is better than 3, 5 and 6 but doesn’t come close to the original, 2 and 4.

That's good to hear. Better than hearing it was terrible. For some reason I am a sucker for the Scream movies. The original is a classis IMO.

Now that I see that 7 is on Paramount+, I may have to have one of those weeks where I start at 1 and work my way through 7.

MI7: The Final Reckoning
(Finally got around to watching it)
7/10
Mostly because you know going in you have to suspend reality and you know what you are getting
Action was good, storyline ok

Finally got around to watching this one.

Mixed feelings on it. Good acting by the two leads.

The ending scene when they are wearing comically oversized goofy suits that looked like they were made of braids of macrame. In no way shape or form would those suits make sense due to the size and causing troubles moving. But I digress...

I think this was one of those straight to streaming movies and even made a joke about it in the movie. This is a fun little movie. Not a think piece but it did make me laugh a few times.

Not bad, based on a real story.

Parts of it I liked, others not so much.

I guess if you liked the others you will like this one but I did not think this was as fun as the others.

So cookie cutter formulaic movie done multiple times before. Would have been funner to have another Ali G movie or Borat.

It had a short theatrical release in late April. I wanted to go but didn't get the chance. Good to know it's streaming now.

I knew his story well enough, so everything before the Beat It arc was nostalgic. And tragic, but the movie really took off for me at that point.

I have no idea what Jaafar Jackson's plans may be. He may have the briefest acting career imaginable, but I will say this. He did his uncle proud.

I like this but I will say I would not put it in the top 5 of Guy Ritchie movies.

I think the budget killed this one. Kind of meh but had potential.
Reminds me a little of Pandorum.

Just watched this one. They had good chemistry and both were good in the movie, I just thought they had way too many characters and the plot just sort of dragged out for too long. Interesting premise for a plot, but thought the execution was lacking.

It was originally a foreign film.

My wife and I went to see Pressure this weekend. This is the 1st movie she has gone to since before Covid. I have gone to a couple with my grandson. This movie was excellent. I know they took a couple of liberties with the facts but I loved this movie. I am a sucker from character driven movies and the acting here was great. Someone has to win an Oscar. Brendan Fraser as Eisenhower, Andrew Scott as the Weather meteorologist, Damian Lewis as General Montgomery all were tremendous. To make a movie that was felt incredibly tense as this felt without action sequences shows you how well the story was written and carried out by the actors. Loved it. 4.75 out of 5. Because of the movie, we watched Saving Private Ryan last night. I had seen it once many years ago and it was her 1st time watching it. Great movie too.

Honestly? Even Karl Urban's Johnny Cage was boring me to death. And I love Karl Urban in practically everything he is in.

I almost turned it off at the 45-minute mark. Lucky for me, I wanted to see the Liu Kang/Kung Lao match. The fights improved, along with the fatalities.

The boss fight matchup was completely obvious, but I was still caught off guard a bit. Loved it too.

It has been decades in the making, but I think they finally landed the best Jade in Tati Gabrielle. Her fight choreography must notably improve in the sequel for more believability, though. I have liked her since first seeing her in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.

I understand why they include all the characters' names in the classic movie song, but it is weird as heck. Did not like AT all. Do not mess with perfection.
