Should Turpin put more focus on special teams than WR?

I do not care.

It’s rare anyone gets to return a football anymore so yeah use him however you want.
They literally try to kick the ball to the 2 yard line, so the receiver , has to return it.

To be fair to Turpin the entire kickoff return game either receiving the ball or kicking was a disappointment . Seems like we were stuck at the 27 yard line receiving kicks ( Turpin ) or other teams were getting the ball near the 40 when receiving a kick ( Aubrey ) .

The HC hired the ST coach after they had been in the same staff in the past . I’m surprised the ST coach is coming back . 2025 was not productive .

I don’t really have too much of an issue with Turpin on kickoffs. It’s his decision making on punt returns that drives me nuts.

That’s why Dallas is stuck in mediocrity . Steele Bell Liufau Mingo Carson should all be gone and Turpin seemed to get kickoffs to about the 27 everytime and was of little threat in the passing game
Completely off base and has nothing to do with Turpin. Turpin is one of the best in the league at what he does. He was 13th in the league last year in kickoff returns with a worthless special teams coach. For some reason you think that is why Dallas is stuck in mediocrity???

And his WR contributions.....exactly what are you expecting from a WR4 who was just 6th on the team in targets?

13th out of 32 teams on kickoffs is right smack in the middle of the pack . I want Dallas to try and upgrade every facet every year . Fans around here seem to be ok with “ middle of the. Pack “ .

As far as WR 4 yes I want Holden & Smith given an opportunity to take the job and improve on it .

Yeah but what you don't understand is special teams the blocking has to be right most of the players on special teams are usually from the defense but when the defense had ridiculous amounts of injuries that means they're using a lot of guys they would have had on special teams that were special team aces playing on defense, And a lot of the players who are also playing defense they came off the practice squad off the street other people's practice squads that's the trash that was blocking..

Sometimes that's what happens I mean he can't do it by himself just like running backs typically can't do it by themselves they need the blocking to be right They need all the setups to be right on time and they were not had nothing to do with Turpin he slipped because of the The players around him and some will say the coach wasn't that great either trying to make sure the blocking was set up right It could have been right in the middle of the blame but it definitely wasn't Turpin it had nothing to do with him playing wide receiver which he has some of the biggest plays in the air yards at wide receiver and the stuff he does behind the line of scrimmage It's not something you take them off of there's no reason to really..

I was in favor of letting the ST coach go at the end of the year . Aubrey on kickoffs Turpin on returns the constant holding penalties . Nope Schottenheimer brought him back . And yes of course it’s not all Turpin but on more then one occasion I saw the returner head for the sidelines seemingly in “ business decision “ mode .

- As a receiver, Turpin has a limited rout tree, imo.
He's not a Cole Beasley where he can stop- restart instantly and turn & twist slot CBs around.
Not that kind of little man route runner.

i can see they they would experiment with him as a WR, to see if there's something there that they can develop and unveil,..

But he clearly operates at his best , when he is on the move , with forward momentum, and when he is Untouched,
if a CB does not get his hand on him at the line, to jam and slow his momentum, Turpin cab get upfield in a blink.
if He's in bunched formation or rub routes to get him free quickly. off the line, he can be an instant deep bomb danger
(ala vs Washington)

- As a returrner, keep an eye on special teams coach Nick Sorenson, as i thought both Turpin & even FG kicker Aubrey, took a step backwards, since Bones Fassel departed, imo.

Blame the coaching staff for that not Turpin.

Also, had he just one more yard per return he would have been 7th!

7-9-1 doesn’t translate to giving out jobs .
That's not what's happening. But there are players who have earned their jobs. That's true on every team. If you think that all 53 roster spots are given out that's incorrect.

He certainly did lead the league in punt return yards

Turpin led the league in yards returned but it was around 26 yards per return .

Ray Davis of Buffalo led the league in actual yards per return he had over 30 per return . Turpin was not in the top 5 of actual yards per return as all the top 5 were almost 5 yards higher than Turpins 26 .

And obviously I’m talking kickoff returns not punt returns .

Anthony Smith the 7th rounder is a blazer has speed Jaydon Blue is a blazer has speed . During pre season have these gentlemen return kicks see how they do . On a 7-9-1 team throw jobs open for competition what a concept .

Smith ever returned kicks before?
