Personally I think both played for poorly ran front offices but Lions sucked most years you’d think they’d have enough top 10 talent to have talent around him I jsut commented on the 29 all pros comment. I got this, but simplified:

Troy Aikman with 13-3 and the 1 Seed: 52-17 SB win and MVP award.

Tony Romo with 13-3 and the 1 Seed: one and done.

Dak Prescott with 13-3 and the 1 Seed: one and done.

That's really all there is to it.

Correction to this post. Aikman was the 2 Seed at 13-3. SF was 14-2, but the point still stands.

If he believes that, why did he demand to the richest contract in NFL history when he hasn't come close to getting there? He's missed the playoffs half his career.

This is the main reason I turned on him. Demanding to be paid like a Mahomes while lacking the skins on the wall to show you earned it has always struck a nerve with me. It's like demanding the Medal of Honor when all you did was scramble eggs in the chow hall every morning.

Just playing a little devil's advocate....On the other hand, Dak was paid like a backup during his first four years in the league when he started every single game, set several rookie records, had a 40-24 record, made the Pro Bowl twice, led the Cowboys to the playoffs twice, and only Tom Brady won more games during that four-year period.

When you take all ten years and average out his salary, the Cowboys received a bargain. I'm just trying to look at things from his perspective, although I agree that signing him to that contract was preposterous.

However, we are blaming the wrong guy for that crazy contract. Jerry Jones had, not one, but two opportunities to find an alternative and decrease the leverage that Dak had over him.

You might have thought that Jerry was smart enough to find another quarterback with the potential to successfully start for the Cowboys after the first time....nope!

How many quarterbacks with a serious opportunity to be a starter did the Cowboys draft over the past ten years? Zero!

In fact, how many quarterbacks have the Cowboys drafted in day #1 or day #2 of any draft since Jimmy Johnson left 32 years ago? Zero!

Before they can relieve themselves of that contact, they have to find a viable alternative. How hard have they tried? They haven't.

It really rubbed me the wrong way when the coaching staff elected to go with this guy over Romo for the playoffs in 2016. I understand he was part of their success, but the Cowboys were pretty good that year with three pro-bowl offensive lineman and arguably the top offensive playmaker in Zeke. History also demonstrated that you don't win the SB with a rookie QB. Having said that, I moved on - as the decision was the coaches to make - and like any Cowboys fan rooted for Dak to succeed. But, like you, he lost me when he went on some personal crusade - on behalf of the brotherhood - to make himself the highest paid player in NFL history. For what? Two wildcard playoff wins.

I didn’t like the brotherhood comment either but who’s really to blame? Come on, you know who and it ain’t Dak. Lol.

Prior to that 12th season, how many times did Stafford have a team around him anyone thought was a legit contender? Megatron was the single All Pro he played with during his entire time in Detroit.

Dak has played with 29 All Pro's.

Matthew Stafford was drafted to be franchise quarterback, Dak was drafted to be a camp body or a backup quarterback at best. Ive been told by many good people here that good quarterbacks elevate the players around him.

So due to the narratives placed on what a quarterback is responsible for around here on this forum, I can't give Stafford an excuse. I didn't create the narratives, I just abide by them.

Now if its a TEAM game, then I can excuse Stafford for his shortcomings for 11+ seasons.

You don't have to perpetuate the narratives. Stand for what you believe. Everyone knows it takes a full team to win a championship. I have certainly never said differently. It is also fair to address any players individual contributions to success or failure. When that is discussed, some want to blur the lines to make it seem like the player is being held to an unfair standard.

I don't blame any player for wanting to "get paid" for work they have done at a discount due to rookie contract or otherwise.

Having said that, his first extension should not have put him as 2nd highest paid QB. His last contract should not have made him the highest. As has been well documented, the Chief handed them out so it's certainly not all the players fault.
