And remember he retired not because of injury or lack of output. He retired (shockingly for everyody) because he said he felt he couldnt satisfy his own demands anymore.

Maybe not...but there's nothing wrong with it either. Especially when we're talking the greats among the greats. Split hairs? I'll take the one with the Cowboys on it ALMOST every time.

If you wanna prove you belong on ESPN over Cowboyszone...knock yourself out.

Precisely.

Now those exact demands? I dunno....I think he just kinda got tired of it. Again...that's fine. But we got guys..alleged "fans'' praising THAT more than our own Emmitt who would fight to the death.

I guess they just need a good internet fight today.

Never missed a game. He was league MVP 3.times. He retired, the league didn't put him out. He won a Superbowl playing for the Browns.

Barry Sanders was outright dynamic,.Payton too.. Emmitt was obviously Mr.. Consistent. Nobody is Jim Brown.

One guy that should be brought up is AP. He is the closest thing at the position to Jim Brown. That guy, everyone knew was getting the ball and it didn't matter. He moved it at will. That's what Brown was

Coincidentally, the 1992 week 9 game against the Eagles showed up in my suggested videos the other day so of course I watched it.

Tight game. Aikman couldn't get the passing game going against the Eagles defense. Cunningham got pulled for McMahon. Fourth quarter with Cowboys nursing a 3 point lead. Smith took over the game. Only pass in the 78 yard drive was the 14 yard TD pass to Moose to end it. Against the Eagles 5th ranked rushing defense.

As great as Sanders was, he never did that.

Madden and Summerall were in peak form. They had a long conversation about turnips and rutabagas during a timeout.

Emmitt finished with 163 on 30 carries.

I remember when Barry was asked why he retired he said something like he felt that he couldnt play the game on a level he demands of himself.

I remember that just because it was shocking for everybody that Sanders retired. But more because nobody saw any decline in his game. You could argue he was even better than in his first few years in the league.

But thats not so important. I just wanted to show that the guy still played like in the prime of his career when he retired. And he did not retire because he was washed. So you couldve expected from him at least 2 to 3 more very good years had he prolonged his career.

But why are you cherry picking just ONE thing? You said "enjoy health"....and I fully agreed with that.

If you're going out to protect your stats, I'm not in on that.

I do not know what Barry's motivation was...I'm simply giving an opinion on the subject matter.

I hope this clears things up for you.

Barry definitely had more more skills in the elusive department. Quickness, direction change, acceleration.

I think we can probably appreciate both styles, no reason to fight about it. but as a fan...devoted loyal fan...I'll take Emmitt. So sue me! :laugh:
