I should have been more clear about “complete team”. I didn’t mean you had to be the best on every facet, like you pointed out. But you can’t have any glaring weaknesses either. The Chiefs didn’t. They had good to great defenses the whole time. Top notch coaches and play calling, and good special teams. They always had at least a good run game and great blocking. The only semi weakness was at WR but it helps tremendously when you have a Travis Kelce in the mix.

As for the cowboys? Just the play calling alone, especially in games that meant something, put us behind the 8 ball. I don’t even have to mention our other deficiencies as I know you know what they are.

As for Dak and his contract, there is only ONE person to blame for that. And you know it. You can only blame Jerry and not Dak for taking the money. You know you would have as well. Just wish Dak didn’t make that ridiculous comment about the brotherhood.

So for clarity:

Dak needs great coaching on both sides of the ball and the head coach.

He needs at least 1 Allpro WR, but 2 $30mm WRs

He needs a really good LT

He needs a run game

He needs a field goal kicker with intergalactic range...so all he needs to do is reach the 50 or better for points.

He needs really good General Managing

...and all of this needs to be done while being the highest paid ever at ANY position. And of course, it's not his fault he maneuvered and schemed to be ALWAYS be the highest paid when his time comes up.

Did I miss anything?

Knowing that and especially with an older vet at QB the backup QB is so crucial.

Imagine we're 9-4 and Dak gets injured and has to miss 5 games. We're cooked. It'll just be another season where we had a lot of the pieces but just couldn't get it done. I certainly don't see Joe Milton getting it done.

We're cooked either way. You guys told us it's the team around Dak...not Dak. So...why not give his backup the same excuse? Cause at 9-4 many have given Dak the excuse....see the above post.

It's all about building the team around Dak and then blaming them when HE fails.

Name one team who has ever won a Super Bowl that didn’t have most of those things, if not all of them. I also don’t think he needs two 1 WRs. That is a CZ made up narrative.

LOL...c'mon. No team has the highest paid player for one...Brady and Mahomes gave discounts regularly, so let's start right there.

2. Most teams are going to have weaknesses and strengths. The Baltimore Ravens defense compensated for a pretty weak offense. It's called complimentary football.

You're pretty smart, so I don't think I need to keep enumerating reasons why it's preposterous to set THAT as the standard for judging the QB! If that's the case, Dilfer could argue that he needed all of that ...and then he too would have been Tom Brady. Cooper Rush could argue he's been cheated.

Thanks for replying. Those are some interesting examples. Phillip made the AFCCG after the 2007 season (his first year starting). Matthew and the Lions both benefited from him changing teams in my opinion. Matthew gets traded for another number one pick QB (who had gotten the Rams to the SB and would never have been allowed to be traded by Jerry Jones or many of this fan base) and a boatload of picks. The Lions have never been as good as they have been with Goff and all those high picks in the past 3 decades. Rams win the SB and have been deep in the playoffs twice since. A strange trade that benefited both teams heavily. Highly doubt Stafford even gets to a CCG with the Lions without all the picks and changes the Lions made once he left-nor would he be a HOFer. The other examples you gave are pre free agency when a team basically had players over a barrel and no gigantic financial anchor that ties a player and team together for such a long period of time (Fouts hardly played his first 5 seasons in a really conservative system-not possible these days). I have never thought of Phillip Rivers as an elite QB. Definitely a gunslinger though with a great arm-and great for selling jerseys and seats at the stadium.
 
This is the biggest question going into the season.

Dak's body is old and broken.

You said he’s broken, as in now. He’s not. He’s certainly getting older and doesn’t move as well. You will too someday I don’t have Pom poms, I just point out ridiculous extreme comments.
