In 1969, when right tackle Ralph Neely was injured, Coach Tom Landry decided to insert Wright into the lineup. His first opponent was future Hall of Fame defensive end Deacon Jones. "The Deacon is big and strong and mean," Wright was cautioned by his line coach. "Well," said the confident Wright, "so am I."

He played right tackle the rest of his career and there’s loads of evidence. He was the leagues top right tackle of the decade.

You don't need to be an Owens fan to acknowledge the obvious that he was a better WR than Bob Hayes.

It's not even close.

They would have had to play in the same time period with the same rules for you to be able to say that.
Terrell Owens flat out dropped a lot of balls and was known for it that wouldn't have gotten better if he played in the physical time period that Hayes played in.

On the other hand Hayes would have dominated today's game with all the rules geared to make it much easier to pass the ball.

It's just flat out the evolution of the game and being able to understand that circumstances alter cases.

Bullet Bob retired 2 years before they enacted the Mel blunt rule.

Lucky for the rest of the league he didn't start his career in 1978

Who knows what the rest of Williams career would have looked like if he didn’t have the wreck. Probably hall of fame.

Sanders played just as many seasons as Haley did for the Cowboys. Haley actually played 3 more years for the 49ers than he did Dallas. Only 5 out of his 13 seasons were in Dallas vs. 5 out of 14 for Deion.

I see Haley listed here as the best DE (laughable behind Martin IMO) and not a single peep about him being a mercenary.

Exactly Bob Hayes was clocked at five mile per hour faster than the fastest we have in the NFL now.

Much tougher to be a wide receiver in Bob Hayes's era Terrell Owens led the league in drops as I recall and Bob Hayes average yards per punt return was double Sanders
Just some things to consider..

Bullet just didn't anoint himself as Prime he had gold medals to prove he was truly elite.

Bob Hayes changed the way defense was played but Deon did make some good fashion statements.

Hayes had a career punt return yard average of 11.1.
Deion Sanders was at 10.4.

Note that Hayes had a career yard per catch average of 20.0 which still ranks sixth all time despite rule changes.

Very few were. Maybe Moss, Megatron and Rice, but those guys are all
Modern era.

With the exception of maybe a guy like Jim Brown or Deacon Jones, very few players from the 1960s would be truly elite today if they fell out of the sky.

Give them expert coaching from childhood, modern training and nutrition and professional sports factory environments, it becomes more of a debate with lots of guys including Hayes, moving up the lists.

It’s easy to see Bob Hayes being virtually unguardsble even by modern CBs.

That is if he didn’t stick with track where he absolutely would have been in the tier with Powell and Lewis and could have maybe challenged Bolt, although that might be a stretch since Bolt was one of one.

Bolt couldn't beat Hayes' record for relay leg. Hayes spiked the graph even higher than Bolt did.

This guy was uncoverable period, LB couldn’t stay with him. He would be 1 for me. Troy loved him. Also don’t remember many drops.

I think he is better than Mike. Parcells no. Mike was terrible we just went 12-4 in spite of him.

Not talking career I’m talking strictly in Dallas. And I saw more from Garrett in 2016 with a rookie QB do more than Mike ever did.

Mike wasn’t brought here to get us to the playoffs. Garrett did that. Mike was suppose to get us over the hump. He couldn’t. Mike was terrible here and then scapegoated Kellen Moore who would go to win a ring.
